Digital Kit Design » Proxie Frame x Tengu III BJD

A few years prior I created a one-off 1/6 scale figure with a mechanical barn-owl head, hakama kimono, and instead of hands, feathered wing blades. It got a lot of attention from my various communities and I wanted to make another at some point as I had sold the original piece.

Now that I was working in 3D in addition to hand-sculpting, and getting more comfortable with organic shapes in Fusion 360, I decided to try my hand at making an all new Barn-owl Tengu figure and general android body. I dubbed the body the “Proxie Frame” based on some 1/6 scale “Assault Proxie” figures I had designed and sold after the original Barnowl Tengu creation.

I utilized the elastic tension jointing again for this design, but customers could (and have) constructed their prints as static statues with a fixed pose.

The Proxie Frame x Tengu III was designed as a 1/6 scale digital action-figure kit using Autodesk Fusion 360. Due to the rush of constantly designing new monthly content, I have not been able print my own, however more than a few customers have built and painted their own. I designed and optimized this kit to be resin-printed in 1/6 scale since I’m a fan and collector of that size figure and do a lot of my own original 1/6 figure creations. I always consider the intended scale/print-size when designing to maximize what can be done to make sure all of the details are crisp and not too thin or thick visually.

The Proxie Frame x Tengu III was available to my upper-tier FichtenFoo Patreon subscribers as part of my monthly digital-kit drops during June 2021. After that month, the files were added to the Industria Mechanika shop as a retail-priced digital kit product. You can purchase the digital-kit files complete with instructions and print your own Proxie Frame x Tengu III here.
