Model Talk / Re: The Random Interesting Models Thread
« on: September 15, 2012, 01:44:55 PM »
Saw this the other day:

Really awesome paintjob that I felt like sharing. I'm not wild about the oversized parts, but the paintstyle is really intriguing.

That is pretty awesome, actually. I'm sure it was quite a challenge masking off all the colors!

So has anyone picked up the new Gunpla Builder sets? We got our first ones last year with the MS Hanger and weapons set. Now Bandai is branching a bit further and giving us other parts in 1/100-144 scales. Hands, effects, thrusters and now scale figures.

Seems pretty cool! :-)

Great job on this armor, sir! Weathering looks great and I love the appearance of metal coming through on the treads.

Very nice! I'll have to give those Vallejo colors a shot at some point.

Thanks so much! Yes, I'm very excited to try the oils out on some other subjects. They seem to be really easy to modify if it gos on heavy. But, I figured I'd give the process a try on my RG Gundam first.  ^_^

Finally finished a plastic kit. Been very busy with the 9-5 and other peoples commissions so it was nice just to get something a bit refreshing in. Kit was challenging. Very delicate, but lots of nice little details and gimmicks thrown in to something so small. It really does feel like you're putting together a mini PG or MG with all the parts. Also tried some of the MIG oils. They seemed to work really nicely and I can't wait to try them out on something larger. Overall it was a fun kit to test out some new tricks with. Pics could be better...I don't hate them, just didn't get my adjustments right until this latest session. Oh well, any feedback is welcome and enjoy!

Model News Feed / Hitekkai Ikaruga by Kotobukiya

So, Kotobukiya continues their onslaught of awesome releases. The main ship from the Dreamcast game Ikaruga gets a plamo release this summer. It was previously released only as a limited GK from WF. I have a recast that I've yet to build.  Ikaruga is one of my favorite STG/shmups of all time. Non scale I believe.

Preorders at Amiami or your favorite hobby place.

Model News Feed / 1/35 Assault Suit Leynos
« on: April 19, 2011, 07:36:13 PM »
Just came out today. Not much info or buzz about this kit, but I love the IPs that Plum is giving attention to lately (Darius Burst, Silpheed). Assault Suit Leynos is based off an old school side scrolling mecha shooter from the 90s (Genesis).

Hopefully I can still pick this up for a summer buy/build.

Very nice! Perhaps I missed it, but what are you using for the seat-belts?

This kit is on my "to buy" list for sure.

This is pretty awesome. Would you believe I've yet to see Laputa. Being such a big fan of Ghibli it's quite a shame.

Should be out any day now I'd think too.

Excellent tips tutorial. It's really nice to see the steps done on real-ish time.

I've been avoiding oils for whatever reason, but I think its time to trade up my pastels. I could have sworn that there were Mig oil sets available, but I could have been hallucinating. Not that big a deal either way.

Oh yeah, this model looks great!  ;)

Thought I'd post it up here for dedicated discussion if necessary.  ^_^ Talked about briefly at Hobby Show '10 last year.

The UCHG Core Fighter is out the end of Feb. Couldn't be more excited about this.

GuNjap has official pics up:

Official Core-fighter pics are up. Release at the end of the month 2/26/11.

Most preorders are up for 3600 Yen or less. Can't wait for this!

1/35 scale Core Fighter! (I hope it's UC Hardgraph!)

Yeah, was checking out some of the news tonight!

Looks like the Core Fighter is going to be Hardgraph...

So are they reusing the Strike frame again? That's why another seed most likely. Cheaper to produce.

Man, if that's what Bandai's doing it's...well, actually makes sense in a way. I suppose if nothing else it keeps the PG name out there and alive. Really was looking forward to an all new, NEW PG. Something non-SEED. Not a fan of any of the SEED designs except the Astray's.

Oh well, I'm sure there's a few happy SEED D fans that'll pick it up.
