Model In-Progress / Scratch build : Iron Sky Valkyrie
« on: October 25, 2013, 11:59:42 AM »
Hi everybody !

During the summer holidays I started a new scratch built project: the Valkyrie flying disk from the Iron Sky movie.
This is the original design I saw a long time before the movie.

And here you cans see some other pictures I used for reference:

As you can see there are various differences in the designs in these images, so I have had to give my own interpretation.
It was difficult to work out the size of the real beast and I guessed it should have a diameter of about 60 meters.  With a 1:350 scale we have a diameter of about 185mm for the model.

For this model I decided to use polystyrene sheets for the main body. Since I have a CNC router I cut the sheets with it.
I made a fast 3D sketch:

From the 3D sketch I derived the outline that I cut on the sheets :

Then I started to build tha skeleton and the main body of the flying disk:

Some boring sanding after applying the putty on the seams.

Finally, some more interesting shape and the housing of the main thruster.

That's all for now. Obviously, as usual for me, it will take a long time to be finished.  :(

I hope you like the subject!

Oh, one last thing:  this model will not be a kit.  ;)

Model In-Progress / 1:35 SPKW-09 DACHS
« on: October 06, 2012, 09:25:20 AM »
Hi everybody,

it's a long time I'm not write here. I hope that all of you are well.

I'd like to show you a little new project inspired to the Ma.k world.

It's a scratch built 1:35 tank destroyer that I designed starting from the F-Boot, a Kow Yokoyama sketch and various ideas of mine.
As already happened with the Markov, it started as a personal project but some friends asked for a resin copy, so there's some chance that it will be a resin kit. I've to see if there's enough interest.  Anyway, I'll make it because I like it !   ;)

Let's start with the 3D model. It lack details that I'll add by hand.

Then some in progress photos of the real thing (not all parts are done yet):

I added some details (covered with masking tape, sorry) and started making the cast texture. It need to be refined a little more. I left a little portion on the rear untextured because I want to add some details.
I masked the lower part of the model because I don't want to use a texture there or, maybe, use a different texture. What do you think about it ?  Texture ore no texture ?

I want to make it simple, with a few parts and not many details. If it will be a kit, anyone will be easily able to add whatever he wants.

Hope you like it.  :embarrased:

Model In-Progress / 1:35 T-ZERO AntiGravity Racer
« on: March 10, 2010, 06:57:37 AM »
Hi guys !

Maybe you noticed that I love space ships and futuristic vehicles and here you can see one of the models I'm working on now for ALB-LAB.

This is a four hands work with a friend of mine, Daniele "Zeta" Cattarin, a member of the NKGCcommunity. He is a very good designer and modeler. We started working on this design some months ago. He drew some sketches and from two of them we started developing the design you can see in these images. He also wanted to do the 3D modeling and I was very happy of this, because he is also a very good 3d modeler.

What you can see in the images is a WIP. There are several details to adjust, but the main features are all there. The design is very different from the Markov, without any vintage look.

This will be a model kit in 1:35 scale, the same scale of the Markov, but there are still a lot of months of work to do.

Now I'd like to hear your constructive criticism.  :embarrased: :-)

 I hope you like it.

Hi to everybody !

Cyber Cycle about to be finished, so that I can came back to another project: the MARKOV racer.
This is an antigravity racer based on an original design of Ben Mauro.
I have arranged an agreement with Ben for commercialize a kit of this racer.
Here is the original sketch:

I started as usual with the 3D model. Here you can see an early version:

Final version of the 3D model:

As you can see I've made various changes to the Ben Mauro design, so that he is now making another illustration.

This is a little project I started an year ago or so. The Iguana has greatly slowed this one.
It is quite finished. Need only some refinements.
I have to find other photos, but I post what I have now.

The 3D model:

And here is a photo of the just machined front wheel. Need only little sanding.

It will be a simple kit with 6 pieces.

Now something totally different.
Last year I've done this gadget for the NKG Community forum, based on the NKGC logo.

Here you can see the 3D model:

With CNC machining I've then done a master for the keyring. Here you can see the master, sanded and primed.
