Thank you :)

It's my first attempt to sculpt something, so it's more an experiment than a serious attempt. But i found sculpting really funny and relaxing, so i think i'll sculpting something more in the future...  ^_^

Hello, this is my last diorama, set in the Ma.K. universe and inspired to a unaligned pirates crew, called the "Pirates of the Death's Fangs".

The buggy is a scratch build and the pirates heads and some armours parts are hand made.

Hope you'll enjoy :)

A complete wip/walkthrough (with way to many pics to post here  :D) is available on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/alessino/sets/72157632066605409/) and on my blog (http://custom.ultramini.net/)

Ehi pal, it looks like a pile of scrap!

Superb work, i like how you keep it bright also if heavily worn down... something to really keep in mind when going with heavy weathering.

Great!

Hello! The model is almost complete...

Please note: the lighter green plastic used for the kit (i.e. the elbows) is not, read "absolutely not" white spirit complaint  :ninja:.

I've done some small washes using oil color & white spirit (on a tamiya base, sealed with a couple of Future Wax hands) and the plastic cracks and starts to crumble to pieces...

I've to putty and repaint all the light green pieces touched by the white spirit... a not so funny work.

Despite this, the piece is almost complete  :-)

Some pics of the recovery and of the other works:

And you heat the plastic in the oven?

Nope! Heatgun... i think it's the simpler way to heat the plastic sheet without burn it.

Wow...nice tricks!
Bravo!

Thank you master!  ^_^

You build your own vacform machine? not that's a good thing to try....
Is it not expensive to use a whole sheet of plastic everytime?

Yes, i've made a small vacform machine, linked to a room cleaner...

And i've made more than one frame, with different sizes, so i can use always the correct amount of plastic.

Also, if you can find a direct dealer, a pvc sheet (not styrene/plasticard) of about 1m per side is quite cheap (about 2)...

Hello! i forgot to update the latest news  :D

First i've remolded the rear skirt, making room for a pair of Vernier Thrusters (skirt and thrusters are both vacuformed):

Then i've started to cut out the two swords:

The work on the shoulder's spikes is almost complete:

A temporary build, just to evaluate height and width  :

Is it called "koi" because your planning on giving it a koi carp paint scheme?

...mmmhhh... maybe  :sarcasm:

Hello!

I'm here with this "summertime work", a custom model based on the MS-06 RG kit, with few modify.

The first work i'd like to do is to enlarge the shield, but before starting the work i've done a quick sketch of a standard Zaku II to evaluate the changes:

Sketching base ideas. by alessino, on Flickr

(The SVG file with the zaku is freely downloadable here: http://custom.ultramini.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/ms-06-zaku-ii.svg  ^_^)

Then using the pics as reference i've modeled a 3D version of the shield, using the open source software Blander. Having the 3D model is quite easy extract the schema and cut the pieces:

Then, using the "salt water etching" tecnique i've done a sample plate... i'm not still 100% to use it:

The way to obtain etchings just with water, salt and a small battery is discussed here: http://custom.ultramini.net/etching-brass-copper-sheets-using-salt-water-method/

It's all for now, any comments welcome  ^_^
