Since its got a medieval theme how bout a lance like the Knights of yore?  :D
I don't think the MG GN X has a lance so you might have to scratch build your own.

I started this kit thinking it would be a piece of cake since it had only two runners but things quickly changed for me.

First off I realized that I would have trouble keeping the pincers attached to the hub with just cement so I had to find a way to secure each blade to the cone. I ended up cutting off small rods from steel paper clips and drilled holes into the cone and pincer blades using my pin vice. After inserting each piece I applied a dab of thin cement and fixed it in place.

Now for the two arms I had more trouble since the kit originally comes with a clunky hexagonal joint that seemed to pry apart the fuselage halves each time I rotated the arms. I cut an old poly cap joint into two and made them into a holder of sorts for the central rod. The rod was made from the stalk of a cotton ear bud and then wrapped with electrical tape to give it some more width. I then sawed off the original joint on each arm and inserted the exposed ends of the rod into them. So far it seems to holding the weight of the arm pretty good.

Most of the parts on this kit are comprised of two halves so I had some time spent on sanding and removing seam lines. I used thin cement to fuse the halves and then puttied the edges and sanded them down.

No primer was used. I just thinned out my acrylic paints and handbrushed them on and applied a second coat after 24 hours of curing.

Paints used;
Burnt Sienna- main body (hand brushed)
Cinnamon - arms (spray can)
Ochre - body (hand brushed)
Flat grey - underside and nose (hand brushed)
Ultra marine - display stand (hand brushed)
Flat coat on main body (spray can)

Hi guys,
I didn't know if I should start a new thread for this WIP or start fresh but here goes.
A lot has happened since my last post and things have been kinda crazy around here.
I became a dad (for the first time)  8) and I got a better job so I've trying to get all that stuff settled down.

A couple of weeks ago I got out all the stuff that was in my storage box and started on this kit first.

1. I filled all those gaps in the legs with styrofoam and then applied a layer of Tamiya grey putty on top. The stuff dries out very quickly and I ended up getting some rough texture on the legs. I'll be filling in the inner thigh cavity next.

I wanted more color contrast for this mecha so I decided on a Titanium Silver for the main body and head while the armor parts are painted in something called 'Burnt Sienna' (I think) I flat coated the armor parts too so that they look more worn than the silver parts.

2. Kit-bashing is something I've never done so I got some spares from previous kits and started to make a backpack and an ammo tank (similar to GM Sniper). So far I've made some progress on the backpack. I had an extra J-DAM and Hellfire missiles from my Tamiya Hornet project so I thought they would fit in perfectly for this scale. Using a pin vise I drilled holes in the main pod and then attached plastic tubes to connect the other parts and to the main body.

Now that things are more quieter at home I think I'll be able to spare more time during the weekends and finish this kit after all!
Here's what it looks like at the moment. Comments and suggestions are welcome as always!  :D
