So I was watching Mike's videos about discoloration and was wondering about the colors of the oils.
Is there a rule about what kind of color you need for different paintjobs? I plan on using this technique on my mak mecha (3 greys camo), which oil paints should I get?

I know, I know, yet another wip...
This is a project I've had in mind for a long time, fueled by several sources of inspiration (Yukikaze, Ace Combat, latest fighters generations, etc). It's a semi-futuristic fighter jet I've been (very slowly) working on for about a month.
I did a crappy scribble of the basic shape I've been thinking of:

I'm not sure of the scale, I'm trying to keep the size reasonable so it should be somewhere in between 1/48 and 1/72.
I've given a lot of thoughts the way to apprehend the construction of a jet...but it didn't do much good

So I just drew the pattern of the fuselage on a plastic sheet and decided to start from there:

It's around 25cm long.

Then I built the thrusters, not too roundish, YF-23 style:

Though the shape will be rounder afterwards.

I glued the thrusters to the fuselage, now I just have to build the rest of the plane

That's it for now, I'm not sure how far I'll go but I more motivated by this than the other projects I have going on.

In-Progress Creations / 1/144 The O II — Space Type

New wip, this time I'm taking a swing at the Neo Geo, a sort of ground-type The O designed by Makoto Kobayashi:

This resin kit is my main inspiration, along with other works by Kobayashi and other Neo Geos (Schnabel Gun for instance

This version is a bit cleaner than other stuff by K.
Not sure yet what the scale will be or how similar mine will be from the resin kit.

I started building a shoulder since it seemed the most challenging part to me (so in case I would fail, I could quickly forget about the project

)
The base for the shoulder is a ping pong ball, it happens to be just the right size I was looking for.
I made a small styrene structure for the top of the shoulder:

then glued it with super-glue (haven't tried Tamiya cement but I doubt it'd work on the ball's plastic):

Once the glue dried, I applied a thin layer of Magic Sculp on the ball (only on the final shape of the shoulder of course, that stuff's expensive):

Then I hollow the ball up by drilling holes along the shape of the desired design.
I started the second shoulder before cleaning up the first one to ensure they would be as symmetrical as I can make them.

Model In-Progress / 1/35 AMX-84

Here's my latest project!
My basic concept was to make a 1/35 legged version of the French MBT Leclerc but gave up due to several things (cost, mainly. That Tamiya kit is beautiful but pricey). I kept my idea of doing a French army mecha and bought a 1/35 M3A1 for spare parts.
My main inspirations are this website: http://www18.ocn.ne.jp/~robo3dcg/gallery.html , the video games Steel Battalion and Front Mission. So only two legs for the sake of my sanity since I can't cast.

This was started some time ago so I'm going to dump the wip pics I have so far with a few comments:

After some sketching I built the basic body shape out of styrene sheets:

The crotch was from an old project that I gave up on.

The tan parts come from a 1/35 Academy M1 Abrams. So does the figure.
The ankles and hips articulations are made with Kotobukiya ball-joints (horrible horrible stuff).

Latest update, I've been continuing to work on the legs and the crotch. I finished the armor plating on the sides of the thighs, I really like those parts. I added the barrels on the back, and some other details not visible on the pics. I'll keep working on the legs, still a lot to do. I've been thinking of adding shields to the knees, in a similar fashion as this:

I'm creating this sticky to share informations on bad sellers (ebay scammers, websites, etc).

I'll start with bboykorea382, a goddam weasel working on ebay and based in HK. Cheap prices but either never sends the goods, or cheats you on shipping by using Surface (taking months and ruining the crappy "package" in the process)

It's been such a long time since my last completed kit, but here we are, my 9 months long project is finally done!

I don't have much to say that hasn't been said in the (big) wip, it's my imaginary prototype of the Xeku Zwei, more heavily based on the Eins that the actual Zwei. My only reserve on that kit would be not to have modded the head. It would have made it look less "Eins". Oh well I still love it, my best piece so far!

AoZ Unlimited Competition! / Gaplant TR-5 [Hrairoo] w/ Gigantic Arms Unit

The picture of the Hazel with the Psycho arms has been growing on me. I know many people dislike that kind of stuff but I'm a dirty AoZ whore.
The main thing I liked in that were the huge hands but I don't have any tubes right now so I decided to build bigass hands in the Hazel fashion (kind of like this).

Based on the HGUC Xeku Eins. I'll elaborate later on the concept but this will basicaly be the link between the Xeku Eins and Zwei plus some elements from the Xeku from Tribute to Sentinel.So far I've only been working on a scratchbuilt rifle:

Model In-Progress / Landing Eva-05 MP

Since I did finish a kit, I can start a new wip without being ashamed of myself for putting things off

So here's what's next, a landing Eva-05 (the whaly one) strongly inspired by this amazing resin kit: http://www.hlj.com/product/KYDEVA05
I'm working with a LMHG kit, it's decent articulation-wise but not enough to reproduce exactly the same pose so I'll try the best I can but it won't be as good looking. I could have tried to extend the thigh or the arms but I just don't want to bother, it's supposed to be a fun project.
I removed the part under the forearms since the 05 models actually don't have it. BTW the plastic they are made from is a pain in the butt to sand and is very easily scratchable...
I puttied and sanded most of it, made most of the stand:

It looks much better from under (1st pic).
I'll try to make it as fixed-posed as possible for the kit to be able to support the weight of the wings but since all the articulations are made of polycaps it might not be easy

I know, I know, I'm starting a new wip and I haven't even finished my Marasai :oops:
Anyway it's a HGUC Dom Tropen. Cool kit, not planning any big mods on the mecha itself (only adding panel lines, some holes and options parts) but I'm making a huge shield like the one of that Rick Dom II that I really love: Click Here
I'm basically planning to do the same. I might build an artillery gun like the Xamel's too.
I may go for a red/black color scheme like this kit but that might change.
