Model Gallery / HG Tieren for build off from MAC Forums
« on: August 10, 2011, 03:49:06 AM »
So me and Phantompain from the MAC forums got slapped together for the build off month

The brief was a HG Tieren, painted green, scratch build weapons and add other details.

So mine was based off the Anti-Aircraft type that I saw posted on facebook

Its been a pretty fast build with minimal problems, the scratchbuilding I think was the biggest learning curve, that and using the Tamiya Weathering kits mixing the powder with thinner and applying so when it dries it looks like caked on mud.

Anyways enough of the chatter, here are the pics enjoy

Glossy blade

Muddy feet

Close ups

Will reshoot when I have finished the base

This was done for a group build over at the gundam aus forums

I love this kit, its easy to put together looks the goods when you put in a little effort
I made one booboo when doing the decals, I didnt realise I had the lower legs on the wrong feet and put the shark decal on and then realised it should be on the other foot, that is why there is a shark decal on the inside of that other leg, i didnt want to take it off and risk killing the paint.
The eye was a lense purchased from hobbymate, the housing was just a koto part painted silver as were the head guns, the rest of the internals were painted burnt iron.
The rocket effect was from the MG kit just cut down to fit and painted
Feel free to comment

Pretty happy with how the final kit came out.

Just needs to panel line it and throw a couple more decals on it (maybe 3 or 4 more, I want this to be more clean)
Its close enough for it to be complete that I am happy with it.
First time using gundam colour paints for the paint job and used Tamiya German Grey for the internals and the axe.
Here are the pics

Action pics

Poor RX gonna get it  :D

I got another 3 of these to build so will probably go nuts with decals on one of those, the more I look at this, the more I like it without the extra decals

This is my third go at this kit, i think this one is my fav of the three I have done so far. I was in two minds as to decal it but in the end decided to leave it without, I think it actually looks better without the decals.
Anyways here are the pics.
Fire away.

Close up :)

This is one of my fav kits.
This one I decided to give it lots of little details.
To also give it a good worn paint job.

So here are the early pics

Wanted this kit simple so there are no decals and no damage applied.
Just a simple shaded paint job with the panel lines done.

Got another of these in the mail yesterday so plan to do it in the same scheme, just to weather it and add some details to it as well

Been workin on this on and off for the last couple of weeks, its now ready for paints and hopefully if the weather holds I can start on the painting next week
Figred it might be easier to upload a vid of the kit to youtube than just posting pics

But here is a pic of it anyways before I did anywork to the legs

I have to say this is becoming a fav kit of mine real quick, its a pretty simple build with only a couple of seams that need to be cleaned up.
Anyways here we go, I based this of the plamo vid you can find on youtube where the guy does the acguy in jungle camo, I think I should have maybe made the green and brown a bit more lighter so they stand out a bit more, but overall I like how this one turned out.
Here's the pics

Had to goto my parents for dinner the other night and took this along with me, just had it snapped and sanded at my parents place and today I started adding little details to it.
I think I'm close to finish with the build although the lower legs are awefully plain and any ideas on something to do there would be great.
The front skirts I added some vents by cutting out the skirt and putting some plaplate under it and then cutting the old skirt peice to fit and putty them back up, still have plenty of sanding to do on that bit.
Anyways heres some pics, feel free to offer suggestions for those lower legs or anything else for that matter.

This was actually one of the very first gundam kits I had purchased.
It was also one of the first i tried to paint, in the course of painting it I managed to have a piece eaten by our pet dog, luckily one of the guys at the katoots website had a spare for me and sent it over.
I originally had it painted in the colours on the box, the red, white and blue, however the more I looked at it the more I thought it would look better in some army type colours. This gave me the motivation to go back and finish this off.
So here we are as it was after it was painted in the original colours

Now these are the colours I chose - Model Masters paints(enamels)
Gunship Grey, Dark Green and Flat Gull Grey, the internals were painted Gloss Steel.

Head put together, still needs its panel lines done.

And as it is at the moment, all the major painting is done and it just needs its details (panel lines, decals etc)

Will hopefully get it done in the next few days.

Finished it, Yay finally a feddie mecha.

I think it could probably use another couple of coats of flat coat, there is still some shine i'd like to get rid of, but i love how the chrome parts came out.
Fire away.

I had snap fitted awhile ago and decided it was time to go back and do it proper.

Internals were painted Burnt Iron with Chrome highlights

Overall colours were Dark grey undercoat, then light grey over the top, for the green it was JA Green then some white added to highlight. Chrome was used for the sabre handles, thrusters and knee and ankle joins, will probably go back and spray it on the elbows too.
Its glossed now and only needs its decals, panel lines and top coat to finish it, hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Finally finished this one.
This had been snapped and on my shelf for ages.
I really did hate sanding and painting those tubes though, man were they a nuisance.
Custom colours again
Had cut the original spikes off an placed the koto option ones on there instead, few little extras added here and there, the smaller gun is also from an option kit which was meant for a 1/144 kit but I thought it looked great as a small gun for a 1/100.
Anyways here are the pics, fire away.

Took the advice from the last one I did and added plenty more decals.

After the Flat coat and light weathering done, I used the Tamiya Weathering kit (sand one) for this kit.

In combat formation with the other, I have a Zaku2 in progress at the moment and I plan to add that to the base so it will have the 3 of them together.

Wanted to try something in more desert type colours, next one I do in same colours will do with the digital camo i think, this is straight out of the box with some of the Koto parts added along with the bandai decals

Comments, advice fire away .....
