Got this from their Blacksailors kickstarter, great figure

Primed up

Base colours in

The skin wasn't really appealing to me so added a basic flesh tone to his chest and I think this works alot better, of course this also meant changing the colour of his pants and again I think this works better as well

This was a fun one to do, started it in a painting class I took a while ago and finished it shortly after.
It was my test piece for two brush blending and OSL as well on the skin.
Great little mini from a fantastic range of figures.

Man this was a fun bust to paint, so much so I ordered another one :)
Here's the pics, from get to go I'd say 30+hours which was surprising when I worked it out.

I am really enjoying figure/bust painting almost more so than the mecha I was doing before.

This has been a bit of a mixed bag of emotions painting this, took some advice given and really pushed the shadows and highlights
Final product I am pretty happy with, the base is meh but thats something I plan on working on this year.

Anyways here are some pics

Finished this off and got around to taking pics today as well

Pretty happy with the final result, the only thing I am not 100% happy with is the cloth and cape, but that can be revisited if I want to (dont plan on it :) )

Go this a while back and had been a bit scared to have a crack at it

Started by airbrushing on the base green over black primer

Started blocking in colours and shadows to the face

Started adding more colour to the face and eye

This is where we finished up tonight

It's coming along nicely and is a fun bust to paint.

Done, can put this away
It's kind of scary stepping out of your comfort zone to build/paint something you aren't used to.
I learned a few lessons on this one, mainly paint consistency/brush control and more with shadows and contrast and hopefully the next one I do those lessons learned will come into play.
Anyways here are some pics

I got this from Giorgos Tsougkouzidis, he makes them and sells them himself
Contact him via his facebook page for details if interested, he does some great work.
There was almost nothing to clean up on the resin and the detail is really nice

Primed and then started some preshading on the face

First layer of colours

More to come along as I get time

If you havent gotten one of these kits and like to build mecha, do yourself a favour and get one.
This is just the standard version, I have the metal spec version that I will do later down the track.
It's the first time I've really done weathering this heavy, I like it and might have to do more like this later down the track
Here are the pics, feel free to comment and criticise.

Yay a properly finished mecha kit for the year, now onto something else :)

So it's finished, it went together nicely and once I started on the paintwork I finished it in 2 days which was a great feeling.
I got the date palm tree from an online place from one of the retailers that was at QMHE.
The only real drama I had was that the little stand bits for the feet under the bike broke about 6 times and was very frustrating re-gluing it.
Anyways here is the finished product, enjoy

In final I enjoyed this immensely, I can't wait to try more resin stuff, Chompbot and the Kastor to come next :)

I loved this the moment I saw the initial artwork.
Needless to say when it was up for preorder I ordered it as soon as I could.
I ordered a single mech and also the set with the chomp troopers.
Will start to play with them once the mech is done, the troopers are a good size too with some nice details.
Anyways pics!

One of my first non gundam mechs from Bandai, wanted to try out some of the weathering and dio products I purchased. The build was pretty easy, it has a nice solid feel and the whole thing comes together very well.
I used AK Interactive products, rust streaks, grime streaks, heavy weathering mud set and various oil paints for the fading and colour variations.
Anyways enough of the chat here are the pics

C&C Welcome......

This is going to be my entry to the local qualifier for BGWC
Using Chars Zaku 2, giving it a Sniper Rifle from koto option set and making the dio.
For the Dio

I picked up some pieces of foam board from ebay and we used them for the base

Used some balsa wood to cover the base and some styrene to make the hillside

I also carved out where there would be a pool at the base of the falls

I made the plaster for the rock wall

Got some molds for the rocks and poured the plaster

Got some plaster bandages from ebay and used them to make the terrain

Took the rocks out of the molds

Attached to the wall

Rough mock up of the dio

Rockwall painted

Laid the grass and water

Positioned the zaku leg so I know where it will kneel

Made the waterfall using woodland scenics realistic water

Also got some painting done as well

« on: September 14, 2011, 03:22:52 AM »
Well here is one I have been working on for awhile, it was sitting in the cabinet built with a base coat of steel down on it.
Anyways Sonars challenge from the GAF to finish 20 of these by end of next yr was enough to get me going on this one.
So I present 8 of 20, a Very used mech with heavy weathering and chipping all over it it was given a heavy wash as well.
I used the koto gatling gun and koto hand set and different decals from wave and akocreation along with some bandai ones.
The base was a first for me, the rock was cast using woodland scenics products from their mold and then painted with raw umber and burnt cienna and black

Anyways that enough of me going on here are the pics

This was done for the Cannon Fodder groupbuild over at the Gundam Australia forums

With the beam saber as well

There was plenty done to this kit and I wasnt sure on the zaku missile pods replacing the side skirts but it looks right when painted to match so all good I guess
