This was a fairly quick build only taking about 5 days.  It was a very good kit for being a non-Bandai kit.  Just a few seems to fix and the rest was very straight forward.  Colors are Mr. Color GX Red, Mr. Color GX White, Mr. Color GX Black, Alclad Clear Smoke, Alclad Chrome, Alclad Hot Metal Violet, Alclad Clear Yellow and Testors Dull Cote.  Model and metal parts were purchased from Hqo Parts on Ebay.

Capitalism Corner* / Huge Resin Sale
« on: March 07, 2013, 08:54:17 AM »
OK I have some kits for sale.  Need some cash ASAP so heres what I have:
1/48 G-System Nu ($550),  Frame has been test fitted and the box has some where and tear. Very large and heavy box

1/72 G-System Sazabi ($500) NIB

1/72 G-System Hyper Z Conversion with PG kit ($450) about 75% test fitted.  Very good cast.

1/72 G-System MSA-007 "Nero" ($360) NIB

1/72 G-System MSF-007 Mk.III ($300) has been primed and some minor painting.  It will need to be stripped and started over.

1/72 G-System MSZ-010 Z Z Version KA. ($300) just opened bags to look at parts SOLD

1/72 G-System  V2 Gundam Buster + Long Assault Mode ($200) NIB

1/100 G-System FA-78-1 Full Armor Gundam Sentinel Version ($175) about 60% pinned.  Such an awesome little kit SOLD

1/100 G-System MSA-0011[Ext] "Ex-S" Gundam MG Plastic Kit (not the multi colored one) ($350) Started to test fit.  If you want the MG to go with it add ($95)

1/100 G-System Super Gundam Version Ka. ( RX-178 Mk.2 + G-Defenser ) ($175) NIB

Shipping INCLUDED in the lower 50 states.

Also if anyone is interested in purchasing my FINISHED 1/35 RX-78 Ver Ka or my FINISHED 1/35 GP03 let me know.  The GP03 was just recently finished by Matt Tomczeck and the RX-78 was finished about 4 years ago.  The GP03 is in great shape and the RX-78 does have some hangar rash but still looks great.  Let me know and we can talk prices.  The GP03 wont be cheap as the kit coat me $1200 plus what I paid Matt but you will get a huge discount over what I paid.  The RX-78 will be quite a bit cheaper just because the kit was only like $500 and then what I paid Matt.  You could even strip it and do it yourself if you wanted to. SOLD

If you are looking for any other resins, let me know I might have them.  I will probably add more once I go through my collection.  I have tons of SMS kits.

Thanks guys, I appreciate any help you can provide.  We are in a pretty bad $$$$ crunch right now and family comes way before GUNPLA.

Model Gallery / SD Guyver (WIP and Final all together)
« on: February 26, 2013, 08:07:14 PM »
Spent about 3 days on this guy.

Step #1: Clean and Test Fit

Step #2: 1st round of Primer ( I used Mr. Resin Primer)

Step #3: Sand out any imperfections and re-apply primer (this kit was almost perfect)

Step #4: Gloss Black

Step #4: Highlights with Plamocolor Pure White

Step #5: Mix up custom Color and apply 2 coats:

Step #6:  Add 20% white to the custom color, re-assemble the kit and spray from the top down to create more highlights and false shadows:

Step #7:  3 Wet coats of Mr. Super Clear (no pics)
Step #8:  Panel Lines with enamel flat black (no pics)
Step #9:   Mix custom secondary color with enamel paints and lightly spray on all the organic bits just enough to cover but not kill the panel lines.  Then wipe away the exess for a reverse wash. (Sorry no pics)

Step #10:  Fix the broken head because I am an idiot and knocked the kit over:
Some Tamyia light curing putty, sanding and sculpting, primer then paint and good as new.

Step #11: Final flat coat  and Final Pics( I use Testors Dullcote)

Model Gallery / Fooly Cooly Canti Figures Complete!
« on: October 11, 2012, 08:33:14 PM »
Well, these guys were a ton of fun to do, except the 18 hands.  I painted, stripped and re-painted the hands 4 times to get them where I was satisfied.  These were a commission I started way back in February right after I finished the Xeku Zwei.  I would have had them done months ago but I had to move in April.  So here we are, 2 weeks after getting my work are settled.

These were are original from a company called Funny Bunny and were a one time offer about 3 years ago at an event in Japan.  They are very rare but I have seen similar kits that lead me to believe that re-casts are available for about $200.00 each.

These are completely posable and stand pretty easy without a stand.

All colors are Plamo Colors with the exception of some Alclad and Alclad Flat Klear.

Thanks for looking.

Well almost done,  I was wrapping up my photos when one of the legs fell on my garage floor and this happened:

Now I get to repaint the lower left leg of the right one.  Oh well!!!

Just finished this the other day along with my Shinlong.  I used the new PlamoColor brand paints.  They spray very smooth and are completely compatible with Mr. Color thinners and you can even combined the 2 brand of paints to get custom mixes.  I would highly recommend giving them a shot.  The decals are from Samuel.  There is a 3rd large Decal for the center of the wings but I destroyed mine while trying to apply it.  I love Samuel Decals for there design and because they are so thin.  Unfortunately with them being so thin they are very fragile which makes them more difficult to work with than Bandai decals.

Looks like  will be using the PlamoColor paint a lot.  They are a lot cheaper than Mr. Color, you get 60ml of paint in one bottle and the fact you can still use Mr. Color stuff is a huge plus.

Here you go:

Model In-Progress / Z-Luca's 1/220 Bower
« on: August 23, 2011, 05:30:00 PM »
This is one of my Z-Luca collection pieces.  I have all of his sculpts and this will be the first one I finish.  If you haven't heard or seen any of Z's stuff check it out here http://www.kallamity.com/.  I highly recommend saving your pennies and getting one or all of his kits.  ;)

I cleaned this kit up when I 1st got it over a year ago, it took all of 2 hours I think.  I made the base using a rock mold and plaster of paris.  The base has been sprayed with Krylon grey primer and once I research how to paint rocks it will get it painted.  I through on some Mr. Resin Primer last night and with the heat I was able to sand down the major imperfections such as mold lines and such after an hour or so,  I wasn't to careful since this will be my 1st attempt at a winter type camo and weathering job.  I then just sprayed some cheap flat black from a spray can as a base.  A rust brown will go over this in prep for rust effects.  I also tried to take advantage of the pose-ability and gave it a some-what dramatic stance.

Here he is as of now.  If the heat lets up I will do some work on the Xeku and trough the first layers of paint on this guy.  104 degrees is terrible weather to spray lacquers in. :meh:

And for a size comparison

Something to break up the clean up on the 1/00 Xeku Zwei. Not my best work by far but just a quick paint job on this which had been sitting snapped for over a year in my cabinet.  This is the color scheme I had in mind for my G-System GM Sniper III so I thought I would test it out.  I think i will go this direction when I get to the GM Sniper.

I tried to tone down the light a little.  I get tones of comments on how bright my photos are.  I am not sure I like this lighting, it just seems to dark for me.

Anyway here are a few pics and as usual here are the rest. Thanks for looking as always  :-)

Model In-Progress / GSB 1/100 Xeku Zwei Commision!!!
« on: June 04, 2011, 09:02:36 AM »
This was one of those kits that reluctantly put on my "For Sale" list.  I was fortunate that someone not only purchased it but they also commissioned me to build it for them.  I am going to do my best to get this finished by the end of August as requested by my client.  I think that if the problems with the kit are few, that deadline is very doable.

This is the GSB (G-system Best) 1/100 Xek Zwei.  As many of you know GSB is a re-caster of G-System Shop kits.  I initially purchased this from a member of the Hobbyfanatics forum after seeing Matt Tomczeks's wonderful build of the this kit. Link to his WIP can be found here: http://fichtenfoo.net/forum/index.php?topic=3689.0 and the final pics here: http://fichtenfoo.com/forum/index.php?topic=3781.0

Being that this is a re-cast there are a few issues that I have found so far.  Maybe Matt Tomczek can let me know if he had the same issues on his kit.  The main problems I found so far have to do with warped parts and a few noticeable gaps.  Watch the vids to see what I am talking about.

My client has asked for the traditional color scheme but I may ask to change up the main blue a little to be closer to my Blue Sinanju color: http://fichtenfoo.net/forum/index.php?topic=6085.0

I will be doing this WIP with a series of videos so not to many pictures until I get closer to the end.  I am making this project as a set of Tutorials as well. Using what I have learned from all my fellow model builders I hope to be able to also teach a few things.  Of course there are many ways to do things and this is my process.

So here are the 1st few vids on this build.  Thanks for taking a look and if anyone has any suggestions or comments please feel free to let me know.

Thanks
Matt

Model Gallery / MG Sinanju 2nd Attempt
« on: February 02, 2011, 02:31:38 PM »
Well about 18 months ago to the day I presented my very 1st completed gundam, the MG Sinanju.  So I figured why do another one to mark 18 months of active Gunplaing, if that's a word. So I have come full circle from where I started 18 months ago and I present you with my MG Sinanju "2nd Attempt".  What has changed over 18 months?  Well a lot actually.  I have completed 14 models with each on getting progresivly better.  I completed my 1st commission the MG Exia http://gallery.me.com/mattmrozek#100193. I completed my 1st resin kit the SMS 1/100 Kyshatria http://gallery.me.com/mattmrozek#100136. I completed my 1st floating kit the 1/35 Markov http://gallery.me.com/mattmrozek#100314 and I completed my 1st PG kit the 00 Raiser http://gallery.me.com/mattmrozek#100390.  I completed my 1st 48 hour build the MG Alie Strike http://gallery.me.com/mattmrozek#100344 and I have won over 10 awards through various competitions as well as being published in 3 Japanese magazines.  Its been a pretty busy year and a half.

On this kit I did a complete 180 from my 1st one.  1st the color scheme.  Inspired by this build, "Trinity" http://toymakerinc.blogspot.com/2010/12/trinity-beasts-group-build.html I wanted to do a heavily shaded Blue Sinanju.  I also wanted to add the Neograde conversion kit which this one is from SMS.  It'd kind of hard to tell because the parts are only slightly different from the OOB ones and of course the huge bazookas which I am saving for another kit.

I did have a few issues.  Because I primed this thing I had a hell of a time doing final assemble and posing.  The joints are stiff already and are almost impossible to move now.  I ended up breaking the one that joins the torso to the waist so I had to use some brass tube.  This thing is staying where he is so now super cool action poses.  :(

The hardest part of this whole kit is the dam shield.  I tried 4 different ways of painting all which got stripped to do what you see.  I painted the foil stickers for the trim and applied those.  The emblem is mask with parafilm and then brush touched up and mine is far from perfect.  I would say that it looks pretty bad actually.

The thrusters are from my favorite metal parts store on Ebay. hqoparts http://stores.ebay.com/gundamhqoparts.  They are even using my kits to sell their products which is pretty cool.  The ones one this kit came as a set and they are very nice and some are even electroplated.

All the colors are Mr. Color and are as follows:
Blue Preshade: Midnight Blue
Blue Top Color: GX Susie Blue
Frame and metallics: Super Titanium
Black: Uhhhh!!!! GX Black
Top Coat: Mr. Clear Flat  Very tough stuff.  Does not scuff nearly as easy as my usual Testors Dullcote or flattened Future.

There are a few pieces that are a slightly different shade of blue,  I wanted a very subtle 2 tone so on a few pieces after I did my shading I went over them with Intermediate blue and then another light coat of GX Susie Blue.  These pieces are a tab on the grey side and help break things up a little.

Enough talk and on with the pics. Gallery here. http://gallery.me.com/mattmrozek#100416

I just love this kit and I will probably be doing another one in the future.  I think the best MG kit out there right now.

Thanks for looking.  A special thanks to all the very cool people that I have met around the world.  With out my Gunpla buddies I wouldn't have clue to what I was doing.  It's because of all of your generosity that I have gained the skills to get me this far and I still have a long way to go.

Thanks again,

Model In-Progress / 1/72 RGM-79SP3 GM Sniper III by G-System
« on: November 27, 2010, 09:20:01 PM »
This is one of 3 kits I have been working on over the holiday.  My whole family has the stomach flu  so we had to cancel or Thanksgiving Plans which was fine for me because it meant I could get some modeling in which I have not been really able to do since I started my new job.

So I got this guy all cleaned up and pinned pretty quickly.  I would say in about 20 hours or so, not including a 24 hour soak in Purple power.  Next step is to fix the unsightly seems down the back of the calves then the first round of primer.  I might add some metal beads here and there but not sure yet.  I did carve out the molded thrusters in the fee and I will be replacing those with metal ones as well as the thrusters on the back pack.

For color scheme I think I might revisit my Kyshatiya and do a 2 toned army green or I was thinking on a 2 toned gray with metallic bits here and there.  Not really sure.  I usually don't know my color schemes until I look at the paints I have and see what strikes me.

Any way here are a few pics of the majority of the pieces together.  There is some possibility but not enough to do anything really cool without some modification.

Thanks for watching and if I get a break from puking  I will get another update shortly.
