Kit Specifics / 1/100 NG Exia Painting

Tried looking around, so I am sorry if this has been asked and I missed it. I have been able to find ways around most of the issues i've encountered that would make painting this kit a pain, but I am kind of stumped now. The knee joint is just horrible. Once assembled the thigh and joint are stuck. Additionally, the lower leg has that wacky design, and near as I can tell, there is no way to separate the white calf pieces from the core of the leg and have them glued/puttied/etc. Has anyone found any ways around this stuff, or should I just get ready to do a lot of masking? Thanks guys.

Really neat concept. I feel like the heat rod parts used to connect the overhead fang-doodle seem kind of skinny, but you did really great with all the mods and paint. It's very clean and well thought out.

Ultimately anything is possible, but generally I think Bandai tends to stick to either kits produced for a currently running series, kits which are in high demand (take the recent EW/Ka. Wing kits, I think a lot of people were waiting for the whole Op. Meteor team for some time), and rehashes (clear kits, recolors, 2.0's etc).

Getting frustrated with the priming process. I'm not happy with the model masters acrylic primer right now. I can't get it to spray right. It levels nice, but doesn't cover that well. Just needs to be darker.
It's also clogging up, even with some retarder added.
I plan to go back to my regular gray rattlecans from walmart.
I have also realized that I suck as getting rid of seams, but I have a new tool to help with that.
I normally use bondo for the seams, but it seems to shrink on me. I did pick up some of the liquid green stuff from games workshop.
It is a 2 part epoxy in a semi liquid form that is water soluble. You just paint it on.
Personally i've never liked the MM acrylics. They didn't seem better than their run of the mil acrylics. I think you'd be better off with Tamiya or MM enamel.

I did not modify the kit in any major way just rivet holes.

I got a dremel for 8 bucks and I could not believe it. I went around looking for stuff to dremel. I know someone else recently did a MF with some LED/fiber optic work, so if you need help you could check out his WIP. Can't wait to see the turnout.

Truck liner? That's pretty crafty. Did you do anything besides spray it on? It looks like a really simple way to texturize and it came out great.

I was on Hobby Search looking around, and I saw these. They're obviously newly manufactured for the film remakes. The kits have new weapons and feature new color schemes and some slight changes to some designs, and a heftier price tag (50 bucks for unit 02?). The thing is though, it looks to me like these are no different than the LMHG kits they put out, just with some new parts. I noticed the arms seem to be made in exactly the same way, which is a bummer. Can anyone confirm if these are any different than the old kits, or if they're just re-releases with some new gimmicks?

I think for most people, the HFT airbrush has proven to be a competent cheap route for those who can't afford some higher end brushes.
