Oh.

My.

God.

disliked Macross Zero (well, the freaking island/Kawamori mysticism parts), but man that is freaking amazing. I don't have any specifics to add that the otehrs haven't already said aside from that I am in awe.

And the background is great too. I remembe rit from when you posted it in one of my threads earlier, especially knowing how you made it. Gotta try it myself sometime.

Take away the yellow on the non-armored one and it reminds me of Alto's Valk from Frontier, with the grey and red and all.

Oh, I opened this thread thinking you mispelled the name of a 1/100 Galbaldy Beta kitbash or something..

Anyway, that looks really nice so far. Any idea on how you're going to paint it?

Any way you could possibly scan that manual pic? I prolly won't be getting my overflag til July, and it's beautiful :D

About the colors, Ali's colors are a kind of darker reddish-orange, which probably wouldn't be mistaken for CHar's color scheme. (Seems like everyone is paitning their Flags in a CHAR_ colors.) But I too am eager to see the shiny stuff. If not that, then a gloss coat could look really nice on the jet black.

Also, obligatory picture comes to mind:

All I can say is WOW. Seriously, that is fantastic. I've been following it in progress--it would still be an amazing job even if it was just an official Bandai kit you had made, but considering how you pretty much made it yourself, it's astounding. Cannot praise enough.

I'm tempted to say something about you having "become Gundam," but I won't.

No idea what that is (looks like Dougram to me) but it's freakin' AWESOME. Wow. The weathering, detail, all that is top notch. I'm bookmarking it for inspiration on how to finish a kit.

I saw this on /m/ a couple months ago. Looks nice, I like the gloss, but could use a little panel lining or detailing. Good job though.

amurorey: thanks a lot man! :D hmmm im not that sure but i think its a 1/100 scale. :-)

Actually, the EVA kits aren't of any particular scale, or at least aren't noted on the box. If it was a 1/100 scale, it would be over twice the size of a 1/100 Gundam kit, because of how comparatively big the EVAs are. :)

Nice finish mate!
Looks very nice indeed...

By the way does this kit in 1/100 scale?
I thought Eva LMHG kits are supposed to be non-scale though I've heard it's around 1/150~?

The problem with Eva kits' "scale" is that they're drawn at varying heights during the show because of animation errors. :P

The hand painting is well done and the overall look matches the anime well.  I just find it a little ironic that you talk about the love of ground suits and have the Zaku flying.  Well done though.

Haha yeah... I needed an excuse to test out that action base. :P

Thanks.

And also, I know it's ironic to talk about grunts and have them done anime style instead of realistically too--more fitting of a Gundam.

Oh dude that's a fantastic job. It looks like an action figure or something, it's so clean and smooth. Very nice.

52
Nice~
I also like what you did with the action base - that gives me an idea~ ^ ^

By the way from memory MS-06J has the cover at the sole covering the vernier nozzle though that didn't come with the old MG Zaku II kit. Still nice looking and love the colour scheme...

Ah the two little metal plate things seen on the new MG? I'm trying to dig up my MS Illustrated book off my hard drive but I think my HD casing is burned out, so I can't. Anyway, I think I know what you mean. Thanks.

And yeah, I got the idea for the Action Base off a Turn A MG I saw somewhere, that I can't find now.

After watching Votoms, I've gained a new love for grunt suits, so I decided to do my old MG Zaku II (ver 1.0) in the style it's seen in in The 08th MS Team. Only mods I did to this were the addition of shoulder spikes (cut down glue tips), and styrene for the wrists and leg thruster coverings, as well as painting it in the colors seen in the anime. Maybe the spikes could be shorter, maybe the grey could be darker, but overall I'm happy with it. I didn't weather it or do it up all realistically because I had planned from the start to make it seem how it is in the anime. Entirely hand/brush painted, as always, because I'm cheap and it works well enough. Not a very ambitious project, but turned out nicely nonetheless.

I just painted the Action Base brown, then sprayed some of that watery glue stuff they sell in hobby shops onto it and threw a few layers of grass/foliage/rocks/etc. onto it.

I've done so many Gunpla in the past year that I really need to post pics of. I'll get around to it eventually.

I usually take pictures of my models inside the box of a MG Re-GZ (nice all white background), but with the stand, this was too big... Sorry the pics are so small (Photobucket's size limit). I should take a few of just the Zaku from closer up.

I think the Sazabi looks funny... is the head too small? The black overflag is actually neat, I'm not the biggest fan of them, but that one looks interesting.

It probably looks funny because you're used to the MG design. HGUC designs always stick closer to the original linearts (but with corrected proportions) than MGs (which usually modify the design a bit) do, and the MG Sazabi has rather poor proportions and faithfulness to the original lineart.

Wow, that looks fantastic! It's so clean--It looks like it was pulled right off the box of the kit. Amazing job.

And yeah, that doesn't look like the standard 02 scheme. Is that from Rebuild? I haven't seen the art for 02 yet (even though I'm a huge Eva fan and working on subbing the first movie. I know, I fail.)

But yeah, I definitely need to get me one of these kits. Great job, again.

Ficht, have you been working on your PG Eva-01 at all?

Just throwing this out there-- MS Illustrated 2003 has black and white lineart of any and every mobile suit imaginable. I downloaded the book--if anyone wants any lineart from it without having to download it themselves, just let me know.

Would the mods mind if I were to post a link to a download of the book? It's incredibly useful, but I thought it would be best to ask first. Anyway, you can find it on rapidsearch.yi.org (just search Mobile Suit Gundam Illustrated, or something); I'll post a direct link if I'm allowed to.

Thanks to Gunota Headlines for the following.

Amazon.co.jp now has (completed) pics of:
HGUC Sazabi
Ali's custom Enact (What the heck did they do to the colors? It's supposed to be RED...)
1/100 Overflag (Didn't care for 00, but I love this design... might have to pick one up. Good to see more 1/100 grunts.)

I don't have pics of it on me, but for those who have seen it, am I the only one who really dislikes the HGUC Zaku FZ? I love Katoki more than anyone, but seriously... his and Izubuchi's styles clash, so it's always awkward when Katoki model-izes one of Izubuchi's designs. The FZ looks so... slimmed down, and kinda defeats the purpose of the bulky design.

(Self-edited to fix my extremely lazy typing after reading the rules. Sorry about that, I'll keep it proper in the future.)

Thanks guys. I might have to try it sometime.

Anyway, have you decided on which project you'll be picking up next, the battroids or the Shiki?

Could you point me in the direction of your MG Zaku build?  I don't remember if I've seen it, and I'd like to!

Thanks, but I still have to paint the heat hawk, which I'll do now. I don't have a camera on me anymore--packed everything up to go back home for the summer- but I'll take pics on Sat. when I get home. I've got 5-6 models I've still yet to take pics of.

Also, I did it anime style, which means no shading/weathering/anything special, dark panel lines, etc, so it looks a little bland, but I can always roughen it up. Only real mods I did were the shield spikes (cut up a set of glue tips), styrene for the wrists which aren't present on the MG, and styrene to extend the vernier covers on the back as seen in the anime, and of course the color scheme used int he anime. But I'll get around to posting pics eventually...

I like how you consider this a quick, easy "mental health build," like "o hey guys I'm getting frustrated so I'm just gonna whip up a kit better than the professional ones in kit manuals out of my ass real quick." :P

Looks as incredible as ever, although I've never been a fan of the design. Just out of curiosity, what made you choose that kit?

Also, on that note, do you ever plan on doing a tutorial on how to remove chrome? I don't see one in the tutorials section, and I know the question comes up frequently in various places.
