Hello there !
after lots of years building war machines i finally turned to the dark side of modelling : science fiction. I must admit that it renewed the fun of building something, no limits unless imagination.
so here is my actuel project mixing kitbash and scratch:
I called it "MARU" for Medium armored Recon Unit, it is a hovering AFV.
as I see it :
vehicle crew : 2 (1 pilot/comp specialist, 1 weapon engineer)
tactical team : 6 men or 4 with heavy assault equipment
it started with a Trumpeter US Army "Stryker" :
the turret came from a Lego toy :
secondary armament :
general view :
then painting begun after a Citadel Chaos Black primer : USMC green paneling.
enlighted with usaf light grey :
in order to create visual interest the various armored panels were treated with filters done with oils (mostly yellows and ochres)
markings are from various AFV decals and handpainted (for the top recognition panel)
at this point it was time for a first weathering done with acrylics, using the hairspray method for heavy wear and airbrush for the dust effects :
Now i have to stop a little the work on it, as i will integrate the MARU into a little dio, i will have to manipulate it, so no times for pigments and pastels yet.
