Loving this!
What I might do, personally, is shave off some bolt detail here and there and drill holes where the bolts were. Adds nice little places of interest, where oil might have leaked out or rust might have started. Just an idea, keep doing your own thing!

The white wash really does it for me. Very nice and clean build. :-)

Model Gallery / MG Zaku II F2: the Ramshackle Zaku

The backstory-idea is that the E.F.S.F. (Earth Federation Space Force, the 'goodies' in the Gundam universe) has salvaged bits and pieces of enemy 'Zaku' suits from the battlefield and sends lone, patchwork Zaku's back into the war, sniping away at Principality of Zeon (the baddies) troops and mobile suits, and basically causing confusion. Not very gentlemanly but there you go. War is hell and all that.

Anyway, it's Bandai's Master Grade (ie. 1/100 scale) Zaku II, with bits left off and other bits added. The dio is made from some wood I had left from my aquarium, a piece of slate, twigs, moss, leafes and Cladonia. For firepower I butchered a Kotobukiya sniper rifle and the Zaku's original beam rifle, added an after market aluminium 1/35 barrel and merged the parts into what you see here.

Here goes:
Total shot. From the ground up the total height is 40cm (15.7 inch).

Close up of the head:
I added 4 small sensors/lenses to the helmet part.

Head-on view:
Most decals came from the sparesbox, exept for the black EFSF lettering.

Here's looking at you...

Hi guys,

One of the builds I'm currently working on is a Master Grade Zaku II. The backstory-idea is that the EFSF has salvaged Zaku bits and pieces from the battlefield and sends lone, patchwork Zaku's back into the war, sniping away and causing confusion. Not very gentlemanly but there you go. War is hell and all that. Anyway: pics.

Here's the legs, with damage added (and bits missing):

The shoulder shields:

And what I'm working on now, a Gundamizedtm Kotobukiya sniper rifle:

Hope to be able to show you more, soon.
Thanks for looking,

Love all the work you're putting into this build  :-)
(Nice weathering on the garden tiles by the way  :D )

Thanks blacklotus :)

Thanks HR :-)

Model Gallery / Ma.K. original build: SAFS 'Lunar Egg' spy droid
« on: May 10, 2015, 12:12:33 PM »
Hi guys, long time no post! I haven't build a lot in the last couple of years, but I would like to share this one with you:

It's an unarmed spy bot, filled to the brim with all sorts of sensors and secret scanning things and stuff.

Smaller than your average SAFS suit, it can easily hide behind any egg-shaped lunar rock of similar size.

As you can see it already has been on six succesful missions.

Only damage so far came curtesy of a small Meteoroid and was easily fixed by replacing a legshield.

Power comes from a top-secret rotary diesel engine.

Space buddies.

The end(s)

I started with this:

I saw the pics before I read the text, (whishfully) thinking there was a kit of the Sexy Magrela... :twitch:
Nice build! Got a close up of the cockpit?

Thanks guys!
I'd say this one's about 95% kitbash / 5% scratchbuild.
This is what I started with...

Quick build with some spare parts.

Thanks! That panel is about the only scratchbuild item on the suit. That, and the pilot's helmet.
The texture on the suit is plain old Vallejo stippled on, instead of brushed, in several layers. Very pleased with how little experiment turned out.  ^_^

Oi! Stay here! One more pic to go, promise.

This Fliege is going to be part of a small diorama, hence the damage.
Thanks for looking :-)

Congrats, man! Very, very cool. Now I'm going to build something similar and if we can get enough contestants we can have a race, yeah? :D Grand Prix de Fi-Foo

Thanks for your kind words, Will ^_^
What to do?
For your inspiration:

The whole project is on pause for a while; the Argun is as good as finished but now I need to gather diorama-materials.

Thanks guys! Barrel's been drilled out, it's just not visible in the pics.
Here's the gun in colour, and in situ:

With the usual excuses for picture quality :P

Why not an Israeli digital camo? Would certainly look the part in those colours.
