Model Talk / The plywood bomber
« on: September 19, 2012, 04:04:26 AM »
Yeah, I know this isn't necessarily a traditional model, since, well, it's designed to fly.  But you know what?  The skills needed to do something at this scale are very similar to, and are at least as impressive, if not more impressive, than alot of the scratch building masters we have lurking around here.  Enjoy!

Also, I finally got off my lazy ass, and added the Gunpla Temple replacement chisel blades

http://mechaskunk.com/store-tools.htm

And finally, due to an oversight on my part, I've ordered too many of the Twin Circle/Twin Squares - and now I have to liquidate inventory - so my screw up is your gain.  Get these guys for 50% off the standard price!

Model Talk / Feed Belts - you help decide!
« on: October 18, 2008, 07:52:05 AM »
Alright, so I'm in talks with my Korean distributor, about bringing back the FeedBelt.  It's still one of the most popular items I've ever carried, and I still get questions about it to this day, about whether it will ever be back in stock.  Unfortunately, we were not able to find an exact replacement for the original FeedBelt, but we have found 10 options for a replacement - and this is where you guys come in.  I have a general idea which ones would be most popular, but I need your opinion to know for sure.  So please, vote for your favorite!  Have more than one favorite?  You can vote more than once (3 times total, actually).  Now, onto the contestants!

FeedBelt 01
This entry is rectangular in cross section, measuring about 2mm x 1mm.  The belt has great flexibility in the vertical direction - bending to about a 3.5cm diameter - and has limited side to side bendability, in the 10cm range.

FeedBelt 02
This entry is rectangular in cross section, measuring about 4mm x 1mm.  The belt has great flexibility in the vertical direction - bending to about a 3.5cm diameter - and has very limited side to side bendability.

FeedBelt 03
This entry is rectangular in cross section, measuring about 5mm x 1mm.  The belt has great flexibility in the vertical direction - bending to about a 4cm diameter - and has extremely limited side to side bendability.

FeedBelt 05
This entry is rectangular in cross section, measuring about 4mm x 2mm, with a smaller segment connecting the larger parts of the belt.  The belt has great flexibility in the vertical direction - bending to about a 2.5cm diameter - and has very good side to side bendability, bending to about a 5.0cm diameter.

FeedBelt 06
This entry is rectangular in cross section, measuring about 6mm x 2mm, with a smaller segment connecting the larger parts of the belt.  The belt has great flexibility in the vertical direction - bending to about a 2.0cm diameter - and has very good side to side bendability, bending to about a 3.0cm diameter.

FeedBelt 07
This entry is rectangular in cross section, measuring about 10mm x 3mm, with a smaller segment connecting the larger parts of the belt.  The belt has great flexibility in the vertical direction - bending to about a 2.5cm diameter - and has good side to side bendability, bending to about a 10cm diameter.

FeedBelt 08
This entry is more oval in cross section, measuring about 4mm x 2mm.  The belt has great flexibility in all directions, having a bend diameter of about 1.5cm in either direction.

K is for Krazy Kustom Kampfer Kompetition / K-Rack and K-HDM's!
« on: May 31, 2007, 06:40:56 PM »
Alright, so who is interested in these guys?  The Rack can be seen in Mike's progress page:

http://www.fichtenfoo.com/02GiantRobots/02b-Kampfer.htm

It comes with two of the side scalloped pieces, and one central ridged spine.  $8 for the set.

The HDM's are from the Perfect Gundam manipulators - but are almost exactly the same as the Kampfer manipulators.

http://www.hlj.com/product/BCL2340

Two sprues are included, with enough parts to make all the hands shown (so one set can be used on multiple kits!).  $8 for the set.

Let me know your interest here - I am still working on taking pics, and getting the items up on the storefront - should be done in the next couple days though!

K is for Krazy Kustom Kampfer Kompetition / K-Spikes ressurected???
« on: April 02, 2007, 04:51:22 PM »
Alright, Adler's nest in Japan is making their own aluminum spikes, in three different sizes.  I am talking to my dealer, about getting these guys (since they don't sell outside of Japan, which is unfortunate).  Should know something about them later this week!

Model Talk / Evolve Zeta Conversion Kits
« on: January 23, 2007, 06:34:14 PM »
First came the G-System 1/60th Evolve Zeta PG Conversion Kit.  Then came the Gundam Modeling Generation 1/100th Evolve Zeta MG 2.0 Conversion Kit.  Now, the NeoGrade 1/100th Evolve 9 (Strike White Zeta) MG 2.0 Conversion Kit.  So many to choose from - and I purchased the GMG conversion before the NeoGrade was announced - and the NeoGrade looks a good bit better!  :(

Capitalism Corner* / OreGuns, Version Ka conversion kits - Group Buy!
« on: January 11, 2007, 04:41:07 PM »
As seen in this thread:

http://fichtenfoo.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2196

there's a pretty cool Korean store that has some great conversion kits, and option parts:

HobbyBreak

There are GM Type C High Mobility conversion kits, OreGun resin weapons, and manipulators.  Check out the link, and if you are interested in anything that they carry, please post here, and I will get in touch with my distributor, and ask him if it's available.  Again, like the Samuel Decal group buy - this group buy is open till Wednesday of next week.  After that, I'll send the order off to my distributor, and he'll get back to me with pricing, etc.
I will then send money requests to everyone, and expect payment by next weekend, unless you make arrangements with me beforehand.  Alright everyone, ready, set, go!

Yep, they're here.  I won't have any time before New Years to get better pics taken, but here are a few I snapped.  Mike should be able to add some more pics once he gets his sets in a couple of days - click the pics for larger images!

Model Talk / Bandai Action Bases (In Stock Now at MechaSkunk!)
« on: November 29, 2006, 02:08:19 PM »
Alright, yet another poll about bases!  I'm in discussions with a distributor for the Bandai Action Bases, about purchasing a case for sale on my website.  For those that don't remember, here are the pictures:

http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN948215

http://www.gundambase.com/community/news_view.asp?page=1&news_idx=456

They are pretty cool, and can be linked together to hold multiple models together.  They retail for about $4.75 on HLJ, and I'd probably be selling them for about $5.75 to cover shipping of the bases to me from my distributor - but the question is, is anyone interested in these?  Vote now!

EDIT: Oh, one other thing - please only vote if you're serious about purchasing these from me - I want to have an idea of numbers before I actually place an order - thanks!

Model Talk / Model Kit Bases (In Stock Now at MechaSkunk!)
« on: November 21, 2006, 03:51:50 AM »
Alright guys, another hypothetical - I'm looking into carrying these premade bases in my store:

http://www.hkashita.com/mod_index.php

I'm exploring pricing of the finished and unfinished versions of the base, which is sized for 1/100 gundam figures, but I bet it wouldn't be a stretch to use it with 1/72nd or 1/144 kits also.  Question is, if I carry this product, which one would you be interested in - the unfinished kit, the finished base, both, or neither?

Model Talk / Gundam Cast Evolve Nu Gundam
« on: November 13, 2006, 05:04:39 AM »
Gundam Cast is going overboard with the Nu Gundam resin conversion kits.  First the FA-93 ν GUNDAM E.F.S.F.(HWS), then the regular RX-93, and now the Evolve version of the Nu Gundam:

Gundam Cast Evolve Nu Gundam

It's not up for sale on the Gundam Cast website yet, but here's a link to the other two they have:
