I just wanted to get the word out on a new(ish) company I found out about today called AK interactive.

They seem to cater a lot to washes and weathering effects such fuel stains. They also have a few instructional dvd's and a few sets of acrylic paint centered on the modulation technique.

The website states that the "driving force behind their products is Mig Jimenez and they are releasing a Vol. 2 of his popular AMV FAQ book.

Here's a link to their site. They're based out of Spain but you can order from their store from all over the world. Along with their AK products they carry everything from model kits to MIG pigments.

Here's a link to their US site which carries just their AK products.

I ordered one of the AFV acrylic techniques from them today. I took a huge break from modeling this past year and hopefully this dvd will help me remember/teach me some techniques I can do with a few jars of paint and a brush.

Painting/Priming / Used Lacquer Thinner -What do you do with it?
« on: June 21, 2009, 07:01:26 PM »
Like the title of this thread states, what do you do with your used lacquer thinner?

For me, when I shoot Mr. Surfacer through my airbrush, the only thing that gets it clean is lacquer thinner. I usually end up with about 40ML (or less) of the stuff, and I keep it in jar until it gets too about 150ML; then I empty the jar.

I've emptied the jar twice.
The first time I dumped it into a bucket, added some water, and left it out to evaporate on a really hot day. A few hours later my dad found the bucket, emptied it somewhere, and put it back in the garage. So this wasn't a good idea because who knows who'll find the bucket while it's evaporating; be it person or animal.
The second time I was in a hurry so I dumped it in the woods behind my house. Probably wasn't a good thing too do either...

Since school's finally out I'll be doing some priming this week. So, I'll have some lacquer thinner to get rid of and I'd like to know of a safe way to dispose of it.

I'll appreciate any advice.

PS, I hope I posted this in the right spot.

Model Gallery / Luna Pawn (my 1st completed kit)
« on: July 19, 2008, 07:35:50 PM »

the rest of the pics can be seen here

Like the title says this is my first completed model since I decided to build them the "right" way with putty, paint and all that. Which was way back at the beginning of last summer. I started the model in Dec. I kept on getting side tracked by other things like school and halo more recently. had to "finish the fight"  :D

I used poly scale and tamiya clear acrylics for the model. Celluclay and woodland scenics talus for the base which I colored with tamiya weathering master set and also weathered the kit with it. He was supposed to be walking on the moon but now because of the colors, its more like an asteroid...

I messed up on a ton of stuff and it didn't turn out exactly how I thought it was but it was fun project and I'm happy with the end result. I was gonna list everything that didn't go the way I wanted and what mistakes I made but I'm curious on what you guys come up with that doesn't look right. So please critique my "work"   ^_^
