Model Gallery / SD Baund Doc
« on: July 24, 2011, 02:28:55 AM »
Finished this kit a few weeks back :

It was an OOB build, 2/3rds hand painted due to masking issues and has a Martian / Egyptian themed base. Another interesting fact with this is that it is the only plastic Baund Doc kit officially available from Bandai (there are many resin versions around in 1/144 and 1/100 but nothing in plastic).

Hi guys,

On July the 16th 2011, the 2nd Annual Australian Gunpla Builders World Cup was held at the Sydney Convention Center on Darling Harbour again as a part of the SMASH! Anime convention.

You might have noticed that BAKUC has changed names again too. No longer is it BMKWC but it is now the GBWC!

This year featured many new talents joining the regulars with many exciting builds on display. This video covers the GBWC stand and the entries contained within it.

For tons of photos see here :

I will be updating my site over the next few days with a write up and will post the official results as they come to hand.

I'm not 100% happy with this one as the hands and arms aren't up to scratch for my standards. Still happy that I managed to get 15 working LEDs into an SD though! :D

Extensive modding to the kit was done including pla-plating and scribing panel lines as well as adding an extra V-Fin and a special eye. Most of the base was scratch built using styrene sheets, rod and tubes. The figures used were HO scale railway figures. More info on the build can be found on the completed page linked above which also includes a video of the completed build in my new video 'Model Showcase' series.

Thoughts, suggestions and comments are welcome so let me know what you think! :D

« on: May 14, 2010, 08:42:08 PM »
Something a little different, the Tamiya Parasaurolophus kit has two heads (one for male and the other for female) so with the spare head I have left over, I have made it into a bust :

It is a great technique to use when making heavily weathered Gundam and armour.

Assembly/Scratchbuilding / Using Repliscale tutorial
« on: January 18, 2010, 01:21:59 AM »
Here's a quick tutorial on how to use Repliscale. For those who are unaware, Repliscale is by far the best product when it comes to building Dinosaur kits as it makes a rubber stamp of the skin details. I use it for my Dinosaur works, but it can be used on anything that requires details being returned after losing them during the construction process.

There is a link at the bottom of the tutorial to the Alchemy Works site if you wish to get some.

Model Talk / Prehistoric Times #91
« on: October 19, 2009, 09:01:54 PM »
A few months ago, I submitted an article to Prehistoric Times about my recent Edmontosaurus build. I wrote a brief description of the build, what I had done with it and included a few pictures of the in-progress and completed stages.

I recently received my subscription issue in the mail for Fall 2009 (aka issue #91), and what happened to be on pages 54 and 55? My article, that's what!  :D

Thanks go out to Mike for taking the time to consider my article and put it to print.

Check it out here (link) :

Model In-Progress / Tyrannosaurs vs Triceratops scene
« on: August 22, 2009, 11:13:46 PM »
Here is something I've been slowly working on over the last few months, a scene involving some Tyrannosaurs and a dead Triceratops :

So far, I've nearly prepared all three Dinosaurs for painting which involved a ton of filling, reproducing skin textures and modifying the Triceratops to look 'dead'.

Thoughts and suggestions are more than welcome so let me know what you think so far.
