I like it, especially the pic of the tank with the wall in the background, it's very much in scale from the looks of it, could maybe do with some contrasting numbers or unit markings, I like that's a nice clean tank, like a military parade etc, I know it's sacrelige when building tanks clean but I like it, I don't think the rust panels fit in very well, perhaps paint them red for contrast?

Model In-Progress / Blade Strike - 1/144 Custom Strike Noir
« on: February 13, 2010, 04:51:00 AM »

This project is an upgrade from a previous post where I was going to make the sword strike variant of the Strike E but that got boring so I decided to make it more interesting.

This kit is fairly oob with only the panel lines being re scribed to make them stand out more, and to help me with panel lining the kit.

The 'Wings' of the strike Noir are now moved to the hips to allow easier access to the swords:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4015/4353588842_a73a29031c_b.jpg

As I'd modified the arms to have the sword strikes shields anyways I retained this feature:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4029/4352841579_7bd46522f2_b.jpg

Heres a rear view showing the dual rail guns new position:

Close up shot showing how it can grab and draw his blades:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4061/4352841847_f57e1e5deb_b.jpg

I'm going to add verniers to the back of the sword holders and a new vernier/engine unit on the back pack, I may add beam sabers somewhere like on the back on the shields because I like piling weapons onto my seed units

Thanks for looking and more stuff can be found on my Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/27661590@N04/

« on: November 22, 2008, 12:12:42 PM »
You definatly deserved the win Funaka, a single one of your models could have easily won but you had four!

Im really hoping i can get back onto my project and get it finished!

I think everyone learned alot and some fantastic models were started (and finished!)

Again, congrats Funaka, very much deserved win (we all know it was the leg lengthening mods did it  ;) )

Hmm,

Best go recent to old I suppose, I'm with you chaos theory, I cant seem to get anythin done without thinkin of somethin else!

In-progress

1/144 Psycho Gundam Titans colour (Im at least sanding it and planning basic mods such as bells...)
1/144 Hazel Owsla Rah (for the AOZ group build comp thats not gonna be finished for ages)
1/144 Exia and GN Arms (keep changin my mind on colour schemes etc)
1/144 Strike Noir Custom (most of its primered, just cant be bothered with the pack mods!)
1/144 Methuss (sort of for the AOZ group build comp but i cant decide what i wanna do!)
1/144 Gundam Bawoo (scrap bash together of wrecked GPO3 and a bawoo with GPO1 verniers?)
1/144 Buster Verde (GF bought me it and I wanna jus do it!)
1/144 Turn X (Its sprayed, jus need to learn to clear coat and panel line and i'll have almost finished 1 model!)

1/100 Gundam Ver-Ka Full Armour Colour Scheme (I dont wanna do it til i can air brush better)
1/100 Astray Silver Frame Custom thing (Need parts and scratch building, its allowed me to salvage my scrapped strike icarus)
1/100 V2 Assualt Buster (Im way not good enough at scratch buidling n putting yet, saving it)
1/100 Freedom Gundam (really wanted it but its got a funny sized head and crappy wings and the strike freedom is SO much nicer)
1/100 Kampher x 3 (One was for the Krazy Kampher Comp, no idea on the other two, I WILL complete a stutzer kampher :) )

1/35 Lancelot (making a custom nightmare, requires alot of work and im just lazy)

In Waiting?

ZZ Gundam (Im scared of all of its parts and size)
Zaku I (I wanna do it really weathered but i need to learn first!
Ground type Gundam and EZ (diorama/sand scherme?)
1/35 Patlabor with funky lights (swat custom much like Foo's, cant be bothered)

Probably loads more, hard to think ive been at this hobby properly for a year or so and i have not alot to show for it so far :)

I suppose anythin worth doin is worth spending time on, also moving in with my GF has totally derailed any hope i had of completing anythin for the AOZ Competition as it took me a week to find all the Hazel Owsla Rahs parts

I miss my warhammer days when i thought painting a whole squad of space wolves was a task....

EDIT: Strangely enough there are 14 kits in my In-progress list Chaos Theory, are you spying on me?  :P

Thats a nice little piece of work, I'm not a car modeller myself but i always like seeing them built :)

Its not the cleanest of builds but i really like how its finished, it gives the car a great retro look almost like its a toy from the original era, if that makes sense  :D

I like it and those big decals on the hood and back must have been a real pain to apply!

Nice arm upper arm mod, who did you get that from?  ;)

Im not such a fan of the rifle so far but it might make it look nice and compact :)

Have you thought about a colour scheme?

October sounds good to me, got totally off track coz im moving (tomorrow in fact!) so hopefully i'll get some work done when i settle into my new place as i have a dedicated workroom there to get full of dust and fumes!  8)

Finally an update!

First of all new colour scheme and new direction, going with Seed's penchant for stupid sized back packs and weapon load outs (and because I'm lazy) I'm going to combine the Noir, Sword and Launcher packs into one big weapon system which i'm subtly calling the Strike Destroyer

Ive gotten the Strike-E up to the primer stage (just need to finish the arm mods)

I'm still working on the mods to fit all the weapons on and to try and keep it balanced  :D

Primer all - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3119/2621894029_f024eb8f1a_b.jpg
Primer leg - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3191/2622719674_fcd675c020_b.jpg
Primer mid - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3175/2621895625_7a1fae2082_b.jpg

I'm amazed by how many scratches and indents the primer shows up but thats its job, handy for learning better sanding techniques.

I also never realised how important it is to wash the parts and thouroughly sand all the parts as there are areas where the primer hasnt covered properly and i assume this to be because of mold release agent left on the plastic, lesson learned and all that!

Finally a question!

I'm using Tamiya spray primer, whats the best way to fix my mistakes for the scratches?

Sand the primer back - fill with tamiya putty - reprime

or

Fill over the primer and reprime?

You stay classy San Diego

Thanks for tryin chaos, thats didnt work for me at all (nearly got mad enough to put the keyboard through my screen)

I then looked on the Flickr Website and their advice in the faq is pure bull crap that does not work

So i went with Achems Razor, I right clicked on the pic, went to properties and pasted the dam url.....

Success, sometimes my own stupidity astounds me....

Nothing clever, just extended the fins at the sides coz i like the look

Thanks to Funakas hard work creating an easy paint mod for the arms Ive gotten a bit further,

I took his method and also installed a joint to allow the upper arm and shoulder joint to seperate

Everything looking great, the proportions look fantastic  ;)

would it be alright if i 'borrowed your arm mods....coz i already have

I managed to make a removable shoulder joint part and it only took me 3 hours.....

cant wait to see everything painted!

I too am dreading the deadline as ive only spray painted one model, ive never futured, panel lined or decalled a model....

Kit Specifics / Re: 1/144 wildwurger questions
« on: June 12, 2008, 05:01:43 AM »
I had a quick look on www.mahq.net (very useful sourse of info) at the wildwurgers height from its stats then i changed it to 1/144 scale because i want a few of these kits too,

comes out around 11-12cm's high so equivelent of a bandai 1/144 kit,

hope that helps as its assuming kotobukiyas scaling is correct but it'll be pretty close.

That looks really nice, I love the tiny detailing on the hood catches and the rivets on the tiny windows in the doors, I like the sheen the car has, looks nice and polished,

Only thing i noticed was on the grill/vent on the back it looks like theres a glue run or something along the left side of it and the wheel rims look a little flat like they could do with some subtle shading (maybe its the pic) but thats being very picky coz thats a gorgeous model,

I also really like the clean stripes.

fantastic job

Lemme see....

- 1 x Hazel Custom 1/144
- 2 x Hrairoo 1/144
- 1 x Wing Zero Endless Waltz 1/144
- 1 x Gundam GP03S 1/144
- 1 x Primrose Escape Pod 1/144
- 1 x Advanced Hazel 1/144

I'm actually surprised by how much i've used, some were for parts only though the two Hrairoo's have no skirt armour so there not really usable and the GP03 and Wing Zero kits were broken anyways so it was handy recycling!

As a teaser for other projects I wanna do for the AoZ Unlimited Competition

Model List:

- 4 x Hrairoo's (I'll be lucky if even one hrairoo gets built complete out of a total of six....)  :twitch:
- 1 x Psycho Gundam 1/144  ;)
- 2 x Advanced Hazel 1/144
- 2 x Woundwort resin kit 1/144

Talk about spending money  :D

Ive been quietly following this build and ive been amazed at every picture, I cant even cut styrene straight with a ruler for my Hazel Owsla Rah and your building one at 1/35!

I'm really enjoying seeing the unit come together, keep up the good work! look forward to seeing more progress!

I agree with Ezechiel about the upper leg part looking short, its probably a combination of the upper leg really being that short and the angle of the picture,

Have you changed any proportions and sizes you felt were wrong or are you sticking to your original plans?

Update!

Seeing as no ones replying It's spurred me on to do more work!

http://photo.ringo.com/259/259137880O957061126.jpg

Basically i've put together most of the addons and mods, I just have to work through the gluing, sanding and detailing  :yucky:

The manipulator arms on the skirt will be getting new connection points and more detailing on the front so they blend in better  :ninja:

The Arm weapons which I'm tentatively calling Prototype Shield Rifles need alot more work but im happy with the basic concept

I'm very happy with how bulky its turned out as the extension mods to the legs, torso and neck almost made it look too tall,

Nothin like a TTT suit drowning in add on equipment!

Thanks for reading  :D
