I had picked up a 3.75″ AT-ST Driver figure as I wanted to make some action-figure sized “Star Wars” releases. Just to whet my pallet, I decided to remake the INT-4 again. This was a Kenner Minirig toy that was never shown in any of the films. The last time I did it by hand and in 1\/6 scale. This time I wanted to recreate the toy as a 3D printable kit, but with more movie-like\/realistic detail and greeblies, while retaining the original functionality. A toy that looked less like a toy, bespoke for the modern, more articulated 3 3\/4″ action figures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The INT-4f was designed as a digital kit using Autodesk Fusion 360. I left holes in all the thrusters for potential LEDs and the wings function as the original toy does. The interior contains a seat, dashboard, and inside-wall details. It’s designed to not be super partsy as well as hollow so it was relatively easy to print. I always consider the intended scale\/print-size when designing to maximize what can be done to make sure all of the details are crisp and not too thin or thick visually. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My final design is larger than the original toy but that’s due to design choices such as thicker walls and being able to fit an actual pilot figure, seat, etc., inside of the craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
