First up I hand-painted almost all of the smaller details that would need weathering such as vents\/piping and additional rust chips. The additional rust was Vallejo applied with bits of sponge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-14.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"anInprogImage\" title=\"FF-Kastor-14\" src=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-14-460x296.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After that I applied a filter of German Ochre 502 Abteilung oil paints thinned with odorless turpenoid. This gives the surface a warmer tone and also creates a nice base for additional weathering layers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-15.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"anInprogImage\" title=\"FF-Kastor-15\" src=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-15-460x392.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"392\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Powdered graphite was applied to all of the engine details to give it a metallic look. In the next discoloration step, that powder will be blended in for a really nice grimy metal appearance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-16.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"anInprogImage\" title=\"FF-Kastor-16\" src=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-16-460x322.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"322\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After letting the filter dry overnight, I applied the first or two discoloration steps. The first is for faded color streaking. I applied white, blue and rust 502 Abteilung oils in dabs then blended them up and down using a flat brush dampened with odorless turpenoid.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-17.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"anInprogImage\" title=\"FF-Kastor-17\" src=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-17-460x328.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"328\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once that dried overnight in a hot-box (large wooden closed box with a 40 watt lightbulb for heat) I applied the next layer of dicsoloration which involves using &#8220;starship filth&#8221;, blue and rust oils to highlight and darken panels giving the craft more depth and age.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-18.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"anInprogImage\" title=\"FF-Kastor-18\" src=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-18-460x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"352\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then finally rot this update I used AK-Interactive&#8217;s Streaking Grime and Streaking Rust as well as their OIF wash products to add streaks and small pin-washes where necessary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-19.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"anInprogImage\" title=\"FF-Kastor-19\" src=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-19-460x323.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"323\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next up I&#8217;ll be applying more of the AK-Interactive products, mainly their Dust Effects to create rain mark streaking and some wind generated dusting along the lower chassis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-201.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"anInprogImage\" title=\"FF-Kastor-20\" src=\"http:\/\/fichtenfoo.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/FF-Kastor-201-460x373.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"373\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<!-- Facebook Like Button v1.9.6 BEGIN [http:\/\/blog.bottomlessinc.com] -->\n<iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Ffichtenfoo.net%2Fblog%2Fkallamityindustria-mechanika%25e2%2580%2599s-135-kastor-hovertank-%25c2%25bb-discoloration-streaking%2F&amp;layout=standard&amp;show_faces=false&amp;width=450&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;font=trebuchet+ms\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowTransparency=\"true\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height: 30px; align: left; margin: 2px 0px 2px 3px\"><\/iframe>\n<!-- Facebook Like Button END -->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Industria Mechanika\/ Kallamity Kastor progress continues with the weathering steps.
