Hey everyone, so after being into mecha for years I finally actually learned of model making ( I had always just assumed people just snapped the stuff together and that's it ). So I figured I would chronicle all my steps to completing my first set, the 1/144 HG G-Bouncer!

6/8/12
So right now I am waiting on my tamiya extra thin cement and gunmetal paint to be shipped... Below is pretty much where I am, pieces pre-built, loosely put together ( despite slicing the nubs on a slant, still worried i would not be able to take things apart when the time comes! ), and a quick shot of my supplies. I really dislike having to use the cheap-o citadel paint spitter for this model, but being strapped for cash I decided it would be a decent noobie investment, I am however saving to get a cheap aircompressor/dual action brush off amazon in the next month or two!

Got two different colors of paint because i was originally toren on what color i wanted the suit to be , but I think I have settled on green

Also decided since there really isn't any decals or anything for this piece I can more or less forgo having to use a gloss coat and just apply a matte coat.

Anyway I shall be updating this in the next week or so once ive started getting rid of seam lines/sanding. If anyone has comments or tips, I gladly welcome them, I am new to this after all Tongue

While green isn't my favourite colour, I'm still looking forward to seeing your stuff. I'm currently still kind of on the fence and want to do a bit more modeling myself, so it's always good seeing another noobie strutting their stuff :)

You seem to be ready supply wise!

Just checked amazon and my cement might come in as late as the 14th T.T

So right now my main job to prepare my model is to catch up on gundam age and play the craaaaap out of armored core v

Update!
Primed most of the parts, minus the backpack and weapons

nowwwww for the frame/metal parts that I am painting gun metal, i will be doing that by hand. Should I paint those parts first then put the blue tape over that and then airbrush the other parts?

Also, I just ordered http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TO578Q/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 , but it won't get in until 20th-25th. Is it worth it to wait ( scroll up to see what i have currently Tongue ) or is there some time frame on the primer?? Also, to continue my n00b questions: I was using fichtenfoo's guide on how to mix alcohol to paint, where you use eye droppers to mix 2 parts to one, but on the airbrush coming in it does not have the glass part to hold the paint and instead has the small metal paint housing. In that case would one just get a small container to mix and then hold the paint, and then just add paint to housing? I know some of this sounds really anal and obvious, but this is just how I learn, by learning every single detail ahead of time, haha.

I've seen a guy on youtube mixing paint and thinning it inside the paint housing on the airbrush. It worked for him, but I don't think I'd do it. I'd mix in another container and then pour into the airbrush.

I've never heard of primer having a time limit on it. I'd say if you want to wait till you get the new airbrush, then do it. Just keep the parts clean. You can call it an extra long cure time if you like!
