Well my first step into the world of Ma.k is complete, and its been a blast! Will definitely be doing some more in the future, already have a gans in waiting on the shelf and a fireball on preorder.
Its also the first time I've tried snow and ice effects in a diorama and I'm very pleased with the results, this diorama has turned out just as I had hoped. A big thank you to everyone who posted in the WIP, it really helped spur me on, so here are the pics of the finished article

Great snow effect Hunter!
The dio tells a story too.  I want to know what happens in the next scene  Sad

Lookin' great Hunter, the snow work is definitely the star in this dio. The combination of the thick snow, sprinkled snow and the frozen snow on the figures is really outstanding :)
And of course, it's always a pleasure following your WIPs!

My little bit of criticism is that I'd build some sort of frame or put some panels around the bottom edges of the styrofoam which the base consists of, it's a little noticeable and distracts a little in some pictures.

Yeah shark totally agree, am definietely going to do that, think I just suffered a little bit from 'desperate-to-finish-so-why-not-cut-corners' syndrome  Oops  Smiley

It's been really nice seeing this come together and the end result is fantastic. I think you were right to finish as-is, sometimes it's possible to get totally hung up with the last 10% and never actually get to the point where it's done. I hope you find the time and location to take some pics outside with low sunlight in the future, I think they'd look spectacular.

I've been dicking around with a diorama based on tank recovery in the Ardennes (which is stalled at the moment) and seeing your snow makes me want to man up and make that snowy too :)

Thanks Will, and thanks for your input in the WIP. I'll definitely get round to taking some 'real world' photo's with it at some point, or failing that just muck about with photoshop!  Smiley

Beautifull workshop and exellent diorama.

The only thing that bothers me here is photos. They're too redish. I don't know if that was your intention, but I allowed myself to retouch one of them.

As you've guessed Jilloo, I'm no photo expert!! But yeah that one you've edited does look much better, I'll be honest until you showed that I had no idea how reddish they were! Must be the big old halogen lamps I used to light it causing it

Try to play a little bit with white balance on your camera. Set it to different modes and see what you'll get. Some modes reduse yellow, red od blue from environment. You should use white balans for artificial light.
