Finally it's done (I think...)  Sorry for the bad pics but I just opened the window to get some natural sunlight and it may have washed out the pics somewhat.  White balance settings are crap on these little point and shoots...

Anyway, I still have to do some touchups here and there but basically it's done.  Currently working on the action base to display it with.  I'm happy with the purple and white but I think I did over do it with the decals... Wacko  The wash did ruin some areas but I guess live and learn.  I may try the ultra clean non shaded look next project but who knows.

Anyway on to the pics!

I'm glad this turned out the way it did, looks really good! I kinda agree that there might be a few too many decals on it, though :)

Fantastic! It looks really good mate, there are a lot of decals but I love the look of gundams with loads of decals on and I think your build is superb!  Smiley

Thanks everyone.  It took a while but I guess I had to relearn everything that I used to do before when I was heavy into Gunpla.  I'll take a short break this time as I'm excited to start working on a resin conversion the next 2 kits.

I'll be posting some action base pics soon after I fininsh assembly today  Big Grin

I'm very happy now that I finally got washes sorted out...  I finally used lighter fluid and oil based paints over 2-3 coats of Future.  Now it cleans nice and easy!

Thanks again guys!  Overall I'm happy with how the Gundam turned out but I'm very happy with the base.  I have another bas to paint and the nex one I'm going to paint with some more metalics and colors to brighten things up a bit.  Maybe some falcon like weathering and damage to the panels...Huh?

Major, you can steal the color scheme any time!!!  I'm sure I found it somewhere or saw something like it in the thousands of pics I have looked at with Gundams.   I'm trying to think of a color for the Sazabi that I have but I'm sure it won't be RED...

Fantastic work!  I always thought that painting up an action base would look tacky or weird, but I guess I was wrong.  Everything looks great.

What's next on the chopping block?

I read you had issues with washes?  On my qan[t] I used artist oils and thinned them in mineral spirits to get my wash, problem is, I thought it was way too messy.  The oil paint wasn't blending well with the mineral spirits, maybe its because I wasn't using lighter fluid or could it be my paint?

Sazabi with patchwork resin conversion but I can't think of a good paint scheme for it yet...  Still looking through pictures on the web for ideas.

I also had the same problem with artest oils and odurless thinners.  They were both from the same company and it did thin the oils but if you thinned it too much it would break up on the surface of the model.  I actually had to use a stronger ratio of paint to thinner one I found out that lighter fluid cleans up nicely.  I also tried india ink but it wouldn't clean as nicely as oil for me...  For some reason though when I was doing washes many tears ago I could get the perfect and I wasn't having a hard time as i did now.  What has changed since then???
