Swordfish II

Started finishing off any kits that i need to finish. The only thing holding this one back was the need to give the lenses on the lights a clearcoat to make them glossy. I want to eventually make  a nice diorama/display for it, but don't have the time for it. A bit dusty(I only just noticed after posting the pics) but this was also a way to test setting up lighting for photos.

Nice! I love this kit. As soon as I saw the Starfish II in Cowboy Bebop, I started looking for model kits of it.

Oh man, I LOVE the Swordfish II.

That looks pretty sweet, I like the damage and weathering it has, it's supposed to be a piece of junk after all

The only thing I see that's a little off, is that there seems to be little to no weathering on the giant exhaust in the back?

I was going for the look of the boxart for the damage.


I didn't think it really needed it. Might add to it when i get around to making my display for it. Thanks for the pointer!

I like everything but the pod gold paint. Not sure why, but it looks off... maybe too clean compared to the rest. What would really make this pop is some of the AK-Interactive streaking stuff. Really easy to use and would add a nice layer of streaked weathering.

I have never heard of "AK-Interactive streaking stuff". Is that something used on scale kits? I never build scale kits really (not including gunpla), so never heard of it. Must go google.

SFII looks great though, nice work on this!  FF has a point, the gold is a bit too clean, but other than that, awesome-sauce!

Nice! One of my all time favorite ship designs. I some grime around the frame of the pod and the gray ship's inner frame will kick up the reallity factor.

BTW, thanks for showing off this kit at our last Toy meetup! I was even more impressed when I saw the little painted Spike in person.    :)

Good luck finding it. The original Bandai kit has been out of production for a while. Luckily I managed to grab one from a stash of old Gundam HG kits that someone was selling on eBay a few years ago. The Swordfish alone was worth the $20 I think I paid for everything.

I'm a big fan of the SwordFish II design. Yours looks great except for the gold, I would have possibly left that off, but still - you've done a great job!

Hobby Link Japan has restocked the Swordfish II!  I ordered mine a couple weeks ago; still waiting for it.
