1/72 VF-1 Valkyrie

Hi,
After watching Macross anime, I had to build at least one of ths valkyries models. I got a Hasegawa VF-1, and went to work.
It is a real challenge for me to work with the smooth lines of the aircraft, especially filling the main lines between the two body halves.

for start I got the model and the armament set from hlj. The base is going to be with me soon.





The pilot figure was taken from the set, and I painted it with GW and Vallejo acrylics.



I then painted the cockpit area in light gray.



Hasegawa does not give the option to close the wheel doors, so I had to convert them to be able to clsoe them. I also head to fill entirely the side wheel wells, as the doors would not fit it.

The cockpit recived some color, as the decals provided by Hasegawa to simulate the instruments panel was not too good, too colorful to my taste.

After some trials with uptty and sanding, I filled the fuelage halves line with lots of suprglue and then sadning.

The missiles were taken from the armament set, and I chose them because I plan a colorful painting scheme, and don't want the armaments to take too much attention.

I'm new to macross modelling, so when I got the kit I wasn't aware of the dull (IMHO) schemes. After some searching I found the minmay itasha special edition, but couldn't get the decals set alone, and the kit itself is too expensive today if at all can be bought.

so I found a replacement and got an Aoshima decla set for cars, depicting characters from the Yoichi of tomorrow manga. The model was painted in white and purple, and then sprayed with Tamiya's clear as a basis for the decals.

Hi,
I cut a template from a clear acrylic paper, and using it the decal was cut to shape and size and placed on the top of the model. This is how it looks;

I added some more decals, mostly from the kit, and some writing on the vertical fins.

The white parts were washed with gray oil color, and the purple with black wash. the colors were dilluted with mineral white spirits.





The next time will be the final pictures, can't wait for the wash to dry.
