My order arrived today so tonight I start decaling the Victory. That oughta take a while being a Ver. Ka and all. I think it'll be ready to final-build by Tuesday.

I can also start painting the Astray since my paints arrived.

GN-X looks awesome, but I'm not sure I like how the rear of the main clear part is frosted. We'll see though once I start building it and light it up. I think I have some purple LEDs and if not I can purplize one with some CLEAR PURPLE! (not what I wanted the clear purple for, but it's a bonus)

Crossbone is cut and ready except for some final clean-up to the weapon seams.

Zaku is waiting on an Ako order to continue.

Where did you end up finding the clear purple?

Actually finished decaling the Victory last night and satin-coated it. It's all done now so I just need to take some pics.

Where did you end up finding the clear purple?

Astray Progress: All primed and frame color painted. What color is it? COPPER! It's the Astray Copper Frame 2nd Revise. Yeah sounds odd, but looks good so far! Using three tones of copper for variation. Armor should be off-white, white, and dark gray. Blades and gun barrels in gunmetal/stainless steel. Probably green-blue for the lenses... patina-color!

My Progress Report:

Astray:  Just finished snapping and sanding.  That is one huge f*cking sword.  A ton of parts as well.  Color scheme will be close to original the differences will be a metallic blue frame and light grey armor.

BD Conversion:  Mecha is complete just finishing up the huge ass gun I got from AKO.  Hopefully will finish that tonight.

RX-78 2.0:  Started to do the metal modes such as pistons and thrusters.

Exia:  Nothing to report.

Moving slowly but steadily.

What are you using for the metallic blue? Will it be a candy coat or a "metallic blue" paint? I know Tamiya's Metallic Blue sucks, but was wondering if there's other brands that do a nice job without having to do the whole candy coat thing.

I was going to do candy coat at first but because of time I am going to give the Mr. Color Metallic blue #76 a shot.  I think I will skip priming the frame as well so that if paint rubs off it wont show as bad as if there were primer grey underneath.  If this works as good as the rest of the Mr. Color metallic paints it should turn out very nicely.

Let me know. I was wondering because the candy coat is going to be VERY thick paint-wise for a frame. If the metallic blue is nice and smooth then it should be superb.

Nooooo! Razz

Astray progress: All done except for final construction, but that;ll have to wait till tomorrow as I just finished applying the flat coat and that needs to cure.

I think next will be the Crossbone and the Zaku as both of them are cut and ready to be primed. Well, the Zaku needs some new bell mods, but that's easy enough.

Does the MG F91 count as a recent enough kit? If so I'd like to throw my name in the hat for this challenge.
My 4 kits are: MG F91 - finished
MG Unicorn - about 80% snapped and sanded, some parts primed
MG Victory Hexa - about 25% snapped and sanded
MG Astray Red Frame - no progress - waiting on package to arrive

Very nice.

I used Mr. Color Iron for the frame of my RX-78 2.0.  I am either going to use black for the recesses or I am going to hight light with another metallic.

I am going for a super clean classic look.  No shading just bright colors and clean lines.
