JTR Style "car"

This is a fun little kit bash project. The concept is inspired by one of the Junk Tank Rock designs The Viper. I loved the concept and decided to build something similar but with the kits I have on hand. The main fuselage is of course a 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109 the wheels and transmission are from a couple different 1/35 armored car kits. The intent was for this to be 1/35 scale, but the fuselage is a tad too narrow for a driver’s shoulders, so either only small guys can drive or I’ll just say it’s “box scale”.

Very cool, it looks almost done. How much modification did you make to the fuselage?
The viper and your design remind me a bit of the Vanships without wheels.

Thanks EZ. The majority is done, just a few details here and there.

Fuselage mods? Very few. Chopped off the back for the wheels and rounded the end off.

Which 109 did you use?  Is the 'canopy' scratch built, or did you just modify the existing canopy?  I can't say i've seen a 109 with that style of canopy before...

1/48 Hasegawa End Of War Bf109 G10. I used the armored shutters from a Skdf 222

Nico - I have thought about mud gaurds for the front wheels but haven't found any spare parts I like yet. Unless you mean the rear pair. That would make total sense, so those are right out.

A Chuck Norris or a Billy Ray mudflap? You need to be specific?

The pigments are still a bit rough and need some refinements. Also more washes are needed to add some pop. I'm planning a simple base and maybe a figure.

So nice! I really like the black cowling (is that the correct word? the panel over the gun-area I mean).
I have plans to create something similar with the centre-pod from a p-39... we'll see.

Very nice and realistic weathering! love the back and the rear wheels of the 'car'. maybe a dusty race ring, with some left behind car parts?

Thanks guys. Hooligan, that's a really good idea but it sounds like more work than I want to put into this.

Groundwork and a little more weathering.

The groundwork is my usual mixture of Acrylic Gel Medium and sand, dirt, root litter, small rocks, etc. I skipped on the pigments this time as I haven't quite figured out if I am going for a darker European earth or a sandy desert color. I still need to decide if I want to spend the time on a figure and what other elements will go in the scene. Or if this is the base I'm going with.

Really cool finish :) Love this model, and nice job on the weathering as Hooligan said! Nice little base, but It don't need larger I think... BTW, coool idea, great build, nice paint, good looking weathering :)
Its inspired me to build a "plane" soon :)
