So have we decided on a paint scheme yet?

I thought you wanted a pink GP03 thats bedazzled.... :)

I am thinking that the main body armor will be a light gray/off white with some panels being a darker gray. Then the normally blue parts being a darker bluish/purple. Accent color will still be red as well I think. Then the inner frame I think will be a combo of metallics and maybe a dark gray.

Thoughts?

If you have a beadazzel you have other issues. LOL

Sounds good.  I think a purplish tone will look good.

Shoosh...  Razz

Ok cool, I agree I think it will look good. It's getting really close to being assembled finally. All thats left are the arms and backpack and then the main suit is done.

Assembly on this monster continued this weekend and the kit is not almost completely assembled. All that’s left is both of the arms and then its on to the gun and shield. The backpack went together well, although it does add a ton of weight to the back of the kit. The torso and chest internals will need to be epoxied for final assembly otherwise it will not hold the weight. I also started cleaning up the panel lines on the parts, and even shot a bit of primer on the center crotch armor. After the panel lines were cleaned up I added a few small details, and drilled the holes for where the stainless steel beads are going to be once completed. Overall the kit is coming together great, and looks SO awesome with all of the armor on.

Looks sick.  I am glad your doing it rather than me.  I think I would get burned out on it.  I picked up some Dymo tape the other day and started doing panel lines for the first time.  It works great.

Yea, I have to admit there have been a few little burn out periods. It's such a massive kit with SO many parts that need clean up. I am having a blast with it, but I am glad I have the Sinanju to work on at the same time. Going back and forth between the two has really helped me keep working on them.

I still can't get over how large this kit is.  I mean, 1/35 scale doesn't really resonate until you actually see the GP03 standing.  I can only imagine how heavy the back must be.

Keep it up man, it looks amazing so far!

I totally agree that when u see the big kits assembled in pics or in person in a regular setting, they really have a presence.
This kit is looking soooooo cool man! I'm glued to your progress. I have no doubt I will be staring at the final pics in a trance as usual. This panel line trick is sweet. It saved my life when I was trying to scribe resin.
Can I ask what you use for epoxy? I'm going to be doing some big G Sys and other kits soon, and I trust your knowledge of epoxy for these is pretty accurate by now.
Really cool build. Looks slick.

I am not sure of the brand off the top of my head, but I use a two part 5 minute clear epoxy that comes in the syringe like tube. I make sure to let it sit for about 24 hours before any type of movement or assembly is done to make sure that the epoxy has cured fully and won't stress under any type of weight or pressure.

Awesome. Thanks. Can I just do a Home depot run, or do I have to find it in the LHS? I can never figure out the properties of one or the other types of glue/epoxy that make them "not stick" for example.

Yea, I usually just get it at Home Depot. I know there are some stronger ones out there, but these seem to work well for what I need. The key to is to make sure you are gluing resin to resin. The surfaces should be free of any paint or primer, otherwise they will not properly bond.

Good question.
I'm on vfx work time right now so you know how that goes, and every time I look at my kits at the moment I get all ADD, and I don't wanna get into a huge one until we get a new place, so I'm torn. What to build... indeed. Hopefully soon. I also have to finish that creature.
Ok, sorry for derailing the the GP AWESOMENESS.

Ok. Now we're back on track :) haha.  Big Grin

This past weekend, and tonight were spent working on getting the arms assembled. The left one is pretty much all finished up with the exception of a few small items, and the right arm frame is assembled. The kit is starting to look even better now that the arms are getting closer to be finished up.

As I have been working to get the Sinanju finished, I have been also working on the Gp03. Today while waiting for parts to dry on the Sinanju I stared painted the feet of the Gp03. After a bit of mixing I finally came up with the tone I wanted for the blue parts. Its a mix of Phyalo Cayenne Blue, White, and Purple, giving it a really cool bright bluish/purple tone.

After a bit of wet sanding, filling, and fixing the part was ready for paint. After the final primer coat, I sprayed a coat of Mr. White Base 1000 from my airbrush (works WAY better then the spray cans of the same stuff) and then once that had dried I spray my coat of the blue mix.

Looking good man! Going to be sweet. Can't wait to see your other color choices.
Sooo, wet sanding,... better finish ? Less mess ? .. Both or neither ? I never do it, and I'm wondering if maybe I should?
Damn, you are giving me model guilt. I need to get more done.  Happy Smirk
