It seems that there will be a limited first edition where you get the Nix Providence, Regen Duel, Hail Buster, and Gale Strike backpack units included with the kit

This is the only site I have found thus far that includes this info, though...

I think I read somewhere else that it might just be an adapter that lets the MG fit the other packs, but the packs themselves aren't included.  Hopefully this will get cleared up soon.

So a little late with starting this kit but whatever. I started cutting the parts out last night and immediately noticed something interesting... an MG Gold Frame Astray is coming. How do I come to this conclusion? a lot of the blue parts are connected to the sprues in much the same way the 1/100 Gold Frams (and red and blue) were which is to place the nubs under the seam-lines so that the gold coating doesn't get damaged.

Now I wonder, what Gold Frame will they do? Another Amatsu?

Oh cool, I was hoping for a MG gold frame. I vaguely remember seeing an image of a "complete" form of the gold frame amatsu that is supposed to be in the new manga story along with the new blue and red frame designs. I'll try and find that picture and post it up.

I don't know if that's a compelling enough argument. The big thing in Japan in the last few years has been OOB snapping, where all the builders do is draw in panel lines and clear coat the pieces. I think Bandai's been putting sprue nubs in inconspicuous places to help avoid the white stress marks that appear when you cut the piece off of the sprue.

Still, an MG gold frame would fall in line with that same idea, since snappers are unlikely to repaint a red frame or blue frame gold.

I would agree there... in the past 5 days I've completed the cutting and sanding of 3 newer MG kits, The Victory, Zaku 2.0 and the Astray BF 2nd R. No glue needed for any of those which is very unusual!!!

However even with the Sinanju and Exia, none of those had the under-seam-placed sprue nubs that the Astray does. And I've only noticed this placement before on the 1/100 Astrays of which I did two (a red and gold).  (I don't remember if the Shiki had them... been over 5 years!) Logic would suggest a future Gold Frame MG to be the reason, but again who knows.

I for one hope to see some of the more basic Astrays (in smaller boxes) be produced, like the RF M1 or the first white gold frame with bazooka-like weapon.
