Distinct Lack of Astray Coolness = Need for Contest

It would seem, despite the numerous kits available, that there's really not a whole lot of *cool* Astray builds out there. I've been looking around all day for inspiration and for the most part just about every single build I've come across is OOB, stock color scheme.

There's a few exceptions like Cap'n O's orange one and Funaka's purple one, but it's otherwise a sea of dullness out there. Little to no modifications to any of the others I've seen though. PGs are worse... I saw one decently painted PG today, but even it was OOB.

So we can do two things here in regards to this.

1: Bitch about the lack of coolness coming from the Astray builders (me included sadly as my Gold Frame was OOB... although I still love my Red Frames modded weapons)

2: Have an Astray contest (all scales, grades welcome, except the MG as that's a ways away) so that we can rectify this situation.

What do you guys think? Interested? Sign up here and if there's interest we'll get it on. Obviously this would be for NEW builds only, not old ones as really there's not much well done old Astrays out there to do the design justice.

Maybe we'll try to get a prize for the winner like the MG Astray or something. That way there will be inspiration for those that purchase it when it's released.

FYI guys, I'm doing the BAKUC.com site updates for the 2009 semi-finals. (not updated yet, but I'll let you know) Guess what one of the sub-categories is at the finals in HK?

If we do this comp and make the deadline the same as the BAKUC semi-deadline for NA we could have some great entries for that and maybe send a great Astray to HK.

This is very interesting, even our local BAKUC eliminations have the "Best Astray Award" which started last year, now I am preparing for one, using the 1/100 Blue Frame but will ditch the Tactical Arms in favor of a new weapon pack.

This is my Astray on BAKUC 2007, one year earlier when the "Best Astray Award" was given.
