Here is something I've been slowly working on over the last few months, a scene involving some Tyrannosaurs and a dead Triceratops :

http://www.ghostofzeon.com/wip/dinosaurs/trex/wip.html

So far, I've nearly prepared all three Dinosaurs for painting which involved a ton of filling, reproducing skin textures and modifying the Triceratops to look 'dead'.

Thoughts and suggestions are more than welcome so let me know what you think so far.

Looks good so far.  If I may suggest something - if this is a family scene, with a mother and juvenile, maybe they should be painted similar, but not exactly the same.  Juveniles typically have a more subdued color scheme than adults, so they can more easily hide and blend in versus adults, who don't need to worry about those things...

True. I plan on having similar colours on both Rexes but, as you suggest, I'll tone the young one down and dull everything. I do plan on having similar patterns though.

Thanks for the suggestion Fulcy.

More dinos are always good.  When I read your write up I immediately thought of the sick triceratops scene from Jurassic Park. Sure you don't really need the references but I thought I'd throw them up. It looks like your triceratops is laying at a weird angle, it is too upright.

Thanks for the pics. I have intentionally positioned the Trike that way as I plan to put some sort of rocky base beneath him and have his legs hanging down the slope - kind of like he was attacked and slumped there to die.

Painting of the Triceratops done - just need to give him a wash and then I can move on to the T-Rex.

Update - The main colours of the Rex has been painted and it's looking very 'crocodillian' at the moment.

I have also experimented with drawing on veins so I am interested in how they look, so please let me know what you think.
