don't remember posing for this...?

That's very nifty, cool proportions and look.

Thank goodness he's wearing a codpiece!

Thanks... basing him off of the old Bat-Man the Animated Series I watched in the early 90s.

Codpiece... yeah. I gotta wonder though what the average guy would do with the power of clayface. Are you gonna walk around like a big androgynous blob of clay, or are you gonna walk around like a big blob of clay sporting a giant wang. I'm sculpting the former, but who knows what average Joe would do.

What do you guys think I should do about the "hammer" hand? There's so many good choices. Ball-peen, plain rectangular box, cylinder, Rectangle with curved down back or with two angles at back coming to a point like a long house shape. Maybe even an axe-head.

I know that I don't want to do a spiked ball... that seems too obvious. It's the gatling gun of hammers. Way overdone. LOL

I seem to remember the axe and the mallet(cylinder)  being the most commonly used in Batman:TAS. Maybe do away with the other hand and make it all goopy lookin' like he's forming another weapon.

I worked on the other hand today and it looks really nice so I'm going to leave it as-is. What's bugging me now is the face... I'm not too happy with it so will probably cut it off and start over there. Lanie called it a frog... nuff said.

Yeah, the old head sucked IMO so I redid it. Sooo glad that I did because the new head looks great. Just need to add the funky teeth.

I'm also leaning towards a long rectangle or an axe-head for the other hand as both of those are very angular and will contrast the goop nicely.

How about the Hammer Axe? Get the best of both worlds and its visually interesting to boot.

heya Michael, this is pretty cool alrighty. I wasn't familar with the character but brother bear just brought me up to speed. For what it's worth and that's very little, our ideas are;

Travis: Big Warner Bros Hammer

Linc: Large Mace Ball with spikes.

There ya go! NU head is good too, great lip snarly shape.

What material are you using to sculpt with?  Also, what is the blue stuff under the wire mesh used for the armature?

Thanks guys. You should see how far along he is now. I'll post pics later.

LinK: Here's clayface's origin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEgTcullKJI Gives you a good idea of his abilities.

Slavin: It's just plain old "Super Sculpey" mixed with black and white Sculpey III. 1 block SS, 1 small block white SIII and 1/2 block black SIII.

Large: Tools similar to these and a brush with alcohol to smooth it.
http://www.topmark.co.nz/images/content/sculptingsupplies/SculptingTools/Boxwood-set.jpg
http://www.propbuilder.co.uk/Claytools01.jpg

Legacy: Super Sculpy/Sculpey III mix. The blue stuff is painters tape to hold the newspaper (for bulk) on the wire.

Here's the FANTASTIC tutorial that taught me everything I needed to know to do this:

Wow, they're not lying when they say practice makes perfect, this is getting better and better.
The dripping look is very nicely rendered.
The hand looks great, can't wait to see what kind of weapon you come up with for the other. I loved it when he changed it to all kind of bludgeony stuff...what a fantastic show!

Thanks! It's coming along, but I keep seeing things that look off and odd that I'll need to address. It's weird, but I usually don't notice these till I check out the still images. The camera's eye is very harsh indeed!

I think I am going to do an axe-head similar to this, but with a more tapered back-end resulting in a small square blunt edge. http://www.euroheat.co.uk/images/product_images/Axes/800/1783207121AXE13FF%20Axe%20Head.jpg
