New wip, this time I'm taking a swing at the Neo Geo, a sort of ground-type The O designed by Makoto Kobayashi:
http://www.mahq.net/mecha/dragonsheaven/dh-oav/neo-geo.htm
This resin kit is my main inspiration, along with other works by Kobayashi and other Neo Geos (Schnabel Gun for instance ;):
http://yfrog.com/8d1223410272646j
This version is a bit cleaner than other stuff by K.
Not sure yet what the scale will be or how similar mine will be from the resin kit.

I started building a shoulder since it seemed the most challenging part to me (so in case I would fail, I could quickly forget about the project :P)
The base for the shoulder is a ping pong ball, it happens to be just the right size I was looking for.
I made a small styrene structure for the top of the shoulder:
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/1897/25622431.jpg
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/2035/68064980.jpg
then glued it with super-glue (haven't tried Tamiya cement but I doubt it'd work on the ball's plastic):
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/3505/32326098.jpg

Once the glue dried, I applied a thin layer of Magic Sculp on the ball (only on the final shape of the shoulder of course, that stuff's expensive):
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/170/92137998.jpg
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/1088/98878328.jpg

Then I hollow the ball up by drilling holes along the shape of the desired design.
I started the second shoulder before cleaning up the first one to ensure they would be as symmetrical as I can make them.

great!
I really like the The-O a lot. You might know this model inspired or based on the The-O as well (also a scratchbuilt):
The-O Hauwer (half way down the page). The 5th link next to the image is a 'making of' series.

I'll be following your progress on this one closely! Hope you'll hang on to this one and don't "fail on the shoulders" ;)

looks promising so far!

A Neo-Geo/ The O inspired model... I am looking forward to seeing how this model turns out, so how tall is this model going to be? I am not familiar with the Revival of Zeon The O - Hauer or the Neo-Geo.

This sounds like a fun project...  :-)

tiny: Yeah I know this guy, love it. Mine should be less boxy.
clee-cm: No idea on the size actually, not sure on the scale. If I had to guess, I'd say between 15 and 20cm.

What an exciting project!
I remember when I made Schnabelgun, was born to make a different Hauer version and was so funny!
It seems you choose the "rounded Theo way". I like very much both, but rounded has a better fascination in my opinion.
So you'll change a bit model techniques, less plasticard and more epoxy putty!
I'm sure will sort out another piece of work from you Ezechiel.
Can't wait to see beautiful progression of the parts in this WIP!
Luca

Hat's off to scratchbuilders.  ;) I always admire people who can imagine things and realizing them in 3D. U wouldnt have some design/ drawn measurements, wujya? I'll be tuning to this channel right 'ere w/ impatience.

Crappy picture from my cellphone to show you the small progress I made on this project (my new 360 and Dead Space isn't helping AT ALL):

I cut the shoulders in half to help with the cleaning up and the symmetry checking. To make the ridges on the lower tip of the shoulders, I glued small pieces of plastic card along the border of the shoulder to make roughly the shape I wanted. Then I covered it with Magic Sculp.
I'm in the process of cleaning that up now.
Once the shoulders are done I'll make plans for the body (I already have an idea of what it's gonna look like).

Great work on it.
I'm very sad you're playng 360 instead making your usual beauties!!
Those shoulders are becoming wonderful.
Do you plan to make them thicker?
It could be interesting to leave 2 valves separated? It should be easier in the case you're planning to cast it......
I know it's too soon to decide that....

Eheh, blame my girlfriend, that was my birthday gift from her
I am thinking of making them bigger (not sure the thickness of what part you're referring to ) by getting rid of the middle part (where the two halves are separated) to add a wider box in between the front and back parts, kinda like this:
http://moon.endless.ne.jp/users/ny-152toc/THE-O-21.jpg
http://moon.endless.ne.jp/users/ny-152toc/THE-O-22.jpg
Not sure if that's very clear...

I was referring to the whole thikness, I imagined that you could spread a putty coat on them to make them thicker.... :-)
I think it should be stronger....just an idea

Tiny update
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/5973/123itl.jpg crappy pic, sorry
I'm starting the torso with the collar. I'll be using a Xeku head since I don't have a The O head on my hands. I might make on from scratch later, we'll see...
I will probably widen the shoulders middle parts for them to seem less high.
don't have a lot of time to work on this these days, hence the όber slow progress.

Another sluggish update (seriously I gotta find more time for this).

I'll be building up the shape around the collar in order to save Magic Sculp (it ain't free!).
At the same time I need to shape up the rest of the torso. I've got a better idea of what I'm going to do now.

Hopefully I won't get sidetracked by my desire to start a walking tank (that's gonna be hard... damn you Mike, once again ).

That's the best way to do it. You might want to try Bondo as well for that instead of M.S. as it sands/shapes easier.

Can't do, don't have that in France :P
It's true I'd like something a little be more easy to handle. MS is not always as easy to manipulate as I'd need it to be.
Here's a crappy side view sketch of the torso:
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/3614/torso.jpg
The underside of the back of the torso will be armorless and the front should have an energy weapon.

Been doing some progress on the torso!
I made a frame to support the pieces of plastic sheets.
The underside is not covered yet since I'll add some depth there (as you can notice from the square box in the 1st picture): I plan on adding some kind of venting unit for the laser/beam canon/BFG that will be in the front of the torso (ΰ la Alpha Azieru/Neue Ziel/any MA).

Yeah, sometimes I like to switch from my usual massive-crotches fetish to try something different, like this massive-unique-boob fetish.

Quick update, the shape is coming together, I started to fill what needed filling (beware, crappy pictures ahead!)
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5868/72576299.jpg

The basic shape of the front canon is already there

The underside where I'll set some kind of cooling system, kind of like on the AMX shoulders and calves.
http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/896/93108937.jpg

A lot left to do but it's starting to look like what I'm aiming at.

The shape is looking good. With the Xeku head and the giant chest cannon its starting to look like some crazy New Desides deep striker.

Can't wait for more so get to work slacker.
