I'm in. And since we're all kinda stepping out of our comfort zones I have a 1/35 Marder III Tamiya kit that I'll be doing.

Here's hoping my Mig order comes in the next few weeks.

Well, I was able to find a few bucks and ordered this:

http://www.hlj.com/product/WAVBK-111

Now, for those living in North America, does it take long to get a shipment from HLJ? It's just to see if I will get it soon enough... if not well, I'll work on something else.

Cheers!

It depends on your shipping method and where in the country you are.

For me for example, and EMS shipment from Tokyo to San Francisco takes about 4 days. Someone in New York would obviously take longer.

A SAL shipment for me takes about 7 days or so.

I took the fastest one. Being in Quebec City, I might expect it by the end of next week.

Thanks!

Oh shit - you mean we actually have to BUILD these things?  I thought we were just bullshitting around and showing what we'd LIKE to build!   Shifty

Mine will be a few days late... although, being unemployed at the moment means that I can live with the fact that I'll start my figure a few days behind people! Tongue There's a good side to my unemployed status after all!

Picss to come ASAP as my Scopedog arrives!!

Aiiiight, kids - don't forget that you have to take a photo of your kit with something (like a newspaper) that proves that it was not started until the contest start date.  Remember, the date has to be legible (readable).

Here's an example that I took last weekend (and yes, I will take another with tomorrow's paper):

Michael, would it be alright if I entered my 1/6 Mona figure that I started a bit on in the In Progress section to this group build / competition? Might help me get motivated and actually finish it.

Fully understand if I can't though since I did a couple hours of work on it already (prior to start date).

I'm not Michael, but that sure doesn't seem like its in the spirit of the competition, which is build something from start to finish in 31 days.  That's why we're taking pix of our unbuilt and un-started models with a date stamp, eh?

Can't you get motivated by starting something new?

Yeah, what Filmy said. Unfortunately that's not eligible for this comp. It HAS to be something unstarted. But you're not the first to ask so don't feel bad. That Mona fig does look cool though and you can always try to finish it by 31 days after you started it just for your own satisfaction. It's a good goal regardless of being in competition form.

Sure thing. Just thought I'd ask.  Smiley

As for motivation: I'm motivated as hell when starting something new, it's just that I get bored easily so that bright idea I had for the first few build sessions suddenly isn't as interesting as that other idea I got for that other build.

I have ADD when it comes to model building.

I guess I'll try and finish it within a month anyway, even though it wasn't eligible for the GB / competition.

Don't feel bad... I'm the same way. I'm "going through the motions" for this figure kit since I have another project I am REALLY interested in. A really fun Star Wars commission. But I figure I'll do them both at the same time since I plan to paint my fig with oils and that'll leave me a lot of "drying time" to work on the other.

7 days into March, and I haven't even found time to take a photo of my kit with "proof" yet.  Sad  I think I'll have to drop out on this one, Feb/March isn't a kind time in the UK University year.

Damn, I wish all I had left to do was clear-coat my figure.  Still have some minor paintwork and decals to do on the figure; but most of the work still left to do on mine is on the base.

I should be good for next week, though.  Sucks that the deadline is noon EST on Monday; that means that I have to be done and taking pictures Sunday night, as I'll be at work on Monday...  I'd love to be taking pictures Monday morning.   Smiley
