(This text, meant to be some sort of motto for driverdude Joachim Drikus, is in German, and means something like:
Many say you have no heart
no heart means no pain
But often it's as simple as that:
Get your head down, get to it and give it all you got
.
Ps: bare in mind that I'm Dutch, so translating German into English is not something that comes naturally  Oops )

Build here, the original build (in dutch, I'm afraid) with even more pics here (my handle on that forum is "plakhandjes" which translates as Sticky Hands, which didn't sound right somehow in English Wink ) and while you're there, please also check out the competition I'm up against in this groupbuild, there's some real beasts there!
Thanx!

I didn't pay much attention to the WIP, but I love the final build of this. :)  Nice work!

Great finish to this. Love the design and the splay of the wheels. My only nitpicks are the gloss of the bedroll and the figure. Other than that nothing!

Thanks for the comments :)
@ Fichtenfoo: I'm still looking for a medium with a dead flat finish. I used Vallejo flat on the tarpaulin and the drivers' pants but, like you said, it's still somewhat too glossy. I've also tried Microscale Flat coat, but that made anything I used it on even shinier than it was before I applied it.

Also love the wheels position, makes it crazy-looking but not ridiculous.
Great piece overall!

I have that stuff and it's a waste of $$$. The http://www.rustall.com/ matt finish (bottle #3) is very nice. And can't go wrong with a good FFA + Flat Base mix.

Man I just love scratch-builds and this just so ticks all the boxes.   Cool   Classy stuff and I look at your design and say "wow that would be so fun to build!"

Wonder how it would go as a 1/1 ?  Big Grin

It would probably go like stink, but only in a straight line.
And all the while look cool like no-ones business.  Cool
Thanks for your kind words, Igor57!
@FF: Like I said somewhere else: shame that Rustall-stuff doesn't seem to be for sale in Europe, it would cost me around $35 to get a set shipped to my front door. But I've got my eyes peeled for the stuff.

Oh... I tend to not pay attention to where people are from. FFF... we're a nation of modelers! LOL Try the FFA/Flat Base mix then... should work well for you. OH... and I've found that using oil-paint and mig filters and discoloration techniques work great on "cloth" parts too and help to flatten the look. I may not have to add another clearcoat to the 'dog after the satin coat and subsequent pigment, oil and filter layers.

FYI: I emailed the guy at Rustall and asked about foreign distribution/sources/shipping and pointed to my progress page etc... Maybe that'll generate some way of getting you guys some that won't break the bank.

In regards to "Rust" was draining my workshop compressor the other day and collected some of the rusty fluid that came out.   Am in the process of drying it out.   Once that is done I shall mix it with some clear flat acrylic and see how it goes.   Will keep you advised.     Like you Sticky Fingers we have very limited amount of materials available to us here in New Zealand.

Yeah, it would go like a rocket straight and then have to slow down to walking speed to go around corners!   Brilliant!     Be a Great ride though  LOL

Bit like Burt Munro's then, but with less wheels...  Cool
@FF: Experimenting with Mig-stuff is high on my list, in fact I've also ordered the new fancy schmansy fantasy pigments. Or "fairy dust". Razz

It's a great original design.  I really like the vehicle.  Would you mind if I steal that concept for some of my Lego creations?   LOL

Great photography as well, those shots with background image are great!

is my favorite. I'm rather proud of that one. As far as stealing the concept: Give us a heads-up when you upload a pic of it at squintyeyes.com ...  Big Grin
