Recently, many good Japanese modelers started using these scribes to scribe very nice panel lines.  They are basically chisels with very small width (0.1 mm - 2 mm).  Does anyone have channels in Japan to get a hold of these scribes?   Alternatively, is there online services to buy Japanese merchandise?

If you can wait a little bit, I am going back to Japan the first week in October. I can try and hunt them down while I am there.

Thank you for the suggestions:

Unfortunately, the shopping service is closed.  I will have to wait till Oct. or whenever it is up at Mechaskunk.

got only the 0.2mm and 2mm scribes. Damn, they go fast. I will definitely buy a 0.4mm if you have more.

I just looked in your store, but didn't see them (I assumed they're be under tools, but didn't see them there, then I looked through almost all your other categories). What category are they in, so I can keep an eye out for them? Any idea when you'll have em?

I bought a Squadron scribing tool at my LHS, but it makes BIG panel lines, so it would only be good for 1/35 or 1/32... :(

I hid them there because a couple of very interested parties were asking me about them, and I wanted to give them first dibs on the sale.  Needless to say, I didn't realize they were going to be as popular as they were, and the couple of people I gave 'preorders' to cleaned me out.  I then posted them on HF, to let those guys pick over the carcass - I figure I'll give you guys first shot over here once my new order goes through...

I have placed the order - though I was unable to order the .15mm and .2mm chisels.  That being said, I am talking to my Japanese Distributor - he is developing his own chisel, that should be out by the end of August.  Stay tuned!

Ok guys - you've got two options here - fight over the 4 of each size I got in the other day, and that are posted here:

http://mechaskunk.com/store/chisel.htm

Or, wait a month or two - I have a different line of chisels in development, that should be ready at that time...

They will be a little different - it will basically be a handle with exchangeable blades.  I believe the handle may be slightly more expensive, but the blades will be less expensive - so overall for a set it should be cheaper - but don't quote me on that...
