PG Zaku Stutzer

And now for something different....
For my first entry into the competition I decided to go against the grain and start with something that no one else is doing. Having picked up a PG Zaku (Red) from the magical Toys R Us sale last year (paid $20 for it, which included shipping) I figured it would be the perfect candidate for some hacking and modding. So I pulled out my AoZ book 2 and started making cardboard mockups of the parts I was going to build. Today I started making the base rough pieces out of styrene from those cardboard mock-ups. So far I have used almost all 2mm styrene sheet. Now that I have the base form roughed out in plastic, I will start to refine it, sand, putty, bevel etc etc.
So far all I have done is the base build up of the shoulders/back pack area. The collar piece that wraps around the head is the basic shape, but will need a bit more trimming and bending to get the final shape I want.

Cool!
I look forward to seeing your Zaku Stutzer... Is this going to be the actual Zaku in AOZ or derivative of it?

It is going to be my own version of the AoZ stutzer from the book. So it will be very similar, but I am making my own changes/additions to it.

Wow, one mind-blowing project after another after another!
Nice progress so far, really like the neck piece. Good to see some Stutzers, they are vastly under-represented in the AoZ universe IMO (as are other baddies).

Wow! I can't wait to see a large scale AoZ Stutzer, all of mine are 1/220! I am really looking forward to your take on this concept and all the detail you get to cram in to this scale. I built mine about a year ago or so here is a link to look at my catalog.

Now everybody lets play nice and not slice and dice my mechs, OK?

Made some progress on this today. Started cleaning up the main bulk of the shoulder/back piece last night with some filler putty. Today I sanded it smooth and started working on all of the details and little greebles. Still has a way's to go, but it's moving along nicely.

Started work on the rear skirt/boosters. So far I have the base shape and some of the details worked out. More updates soon!
