Your first?
I don't believe you!
Looks great man, your modifications are subtle yet have a great impact on your model kit, I can't wait to see more. Do you plan on making a large space to earth cannon for this badboy, since it's a orbital sniper?

I'm looking forward for more, nicely done so far.
What are your plans for the weapon?

Looks good so far. Welcome to the AoZ party! Any concept art or a link to another picture of what an orbital sniper is?
I'm guessing from the air brakes that you must build airplanes?

Thanks for the complements guys.
AnatoleFarmond: I do plan on a big gun/sniper rifle based mostly on the Bigwig's gun I was kind of inspired by that.
Ezechiel: Thanks it means a lot coming form a man with you scratch building skils. I have a couple of drawings that I will post later.
Funaka: The concept is all mine as far as I know. I thought that snipping from the outer atmosphere seemed like a good idea. Yes I have have built my fair share of planes so you are right with the air brakes. That an a bit of insperation from Foo's latest creation.

The gun looks like a neat idea, but since it's attacking from so far I think it should have either A) A larger lens on the gun, like the S Gundam or the Ex-S. or B) A modified head with better optical sensors. But that is just my opinion! I'm interested to see what you do.

Agreed, from that far, it needs to be huge.

I've always wondered why a Gundam, which has robotic eyes and optical sensors, would need a scope on its rifle.

Because the scope has better 'eyes' and optical sensors?

That, and many times the gun's scope can be used as a axillary camera if the head unit is destroyed, IE 08th MS Team when Karen Joshua battles against the Acguy and it takes off her head.
But yeah, like Fulcy says, also because there are different sensors in the head for different jobs, and the scope may also do functions, like different cross hairs, for specific weapons. I would figure, especially by AOZ that the weapons are growing just as complicated as the machines, take the Ex-s for example, with it's strange floating things that it reflects beams with.

If memory serves - doesn't the one guy actually aim the gun from outside the suit - telling Karen to move up/down?

You know what, you got me there. Her monitors are smashed, but I'll dig up the DVD later, I'm sure he says something about using the camera on the rifle. XD But yeah, you're right he does tell her where to aim.

Yes. 2:15 into this clip...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMHOX4pcFtk
The entire argument is silly. First of all, the MS may be different, since the Gaplant is a Zeta era suit. If you are going to take it 'seriously', compare apples to apples... you need to look at another sniper (like the Sniper GM) and look at what they show in the anime. (That scene may be in the clip I posted.) I am sure they are different than the other units. Perhaps the standard sensors need to be working in order for the rifle sensors to work and/or enhance them? Beats me. Besides, this is fiction, so make it fit what you want... weather that fits the anime, science, or just simple aesthetics.
Personally, I love the idea. Can't wait to see more.

I'm with Ezechiel. I would think in AoZ, an orbital sniper gun would be like the Shiki's Mega Bazooka with a more rifle-like barrel. I would almost think it would be larger than the mobile suit carrying it. It should at least be the size of the Zeta's Hyper Mega Launcher.
It should definitely be bigger than my HH's sniper rifle!

Well I was just thinking to scale it is bigger than any satellite that is currently being used which have great visability from orbit. Larger than even the Hubble's apatures. But I guess I was thinking with the wrong type of logic. In the Gundan universe bigger is better so some redesign is in order. Thanks for the comments.

Just take our bickering as advice!
Build you kit how you like it, since it's yours. We are merely stating our opinions, and from what you have so far, you are more than capable of making this kit look awesome. But, if you goal is to appeal to our taste, then AOZ is all about big bad and deadly, but countless times it has been said by others: It's your kit.
So I would shoot for making it your style.

Here is a bit of an update. I have been focused more on the Gaplant than the rifle. I think that I will post that little tidbit last.
