Great job
Thanks for the excellent info, If only I had this reference before doing the Fireball
Will be very useful for the next Mak.
The poses and composition are just superb and I can't wait to see more of it.

Everything looks great so far. I like the idea of going
up
and not
out
with a build. Also, I've gotta try that hairspray techinque. I just wonder what kind of looks I'm going to get when I go buy the hairspray--being bald and all...

Hahaha oh wow, awesome zero, that made my day
The hairspray technique is indeed VERY interesting.
Love the two shades of gray of the debris btw.

Thanks guys!
Here's the latest with all the other floating scrap and interior chipping primer color.
http://fichtenfoo.com/02GiantRobots/02b-FireballSG.htm
Fulcy: well, chips are random so it'd be hard to do that. I got my answers though and doing it all over is fine so nect time I'm definitely going that route. However I'm not sure how well this technique would hold up on a posable gundam-like kit.

Aw, very nice. I can't wait to see the debris field. IMO, the paint chips are a little too contrasty against the base and camo color. Maybe tone them down with a filter to tie it all together. Also maybe some filters to break up the panels for some variety.

Thanks. Heh... I just got done with filter # 1 actually. Gotta wait till much later or tomorrow to add another. By the time I do all the discoloration, washing and filters it'll hopefully be more blended. I do see what you mean though and agree.

Well, I saw your first eight days of work, and thought: "You did all that in eight days!!! I hate you!"
Then you shared the hairspray technique and made up for it.
I'll definitely be trying that on a future airplane model.
I really like seeing the Fireballs mounted on the dio. Looks fantastic.

Thanks! Well, those Fireballs are small simple little kits so that helped. And the great part about debris is that you don't necessarily have to be neat and tidy about doing it. Got a gap...? GOOD! Makes it look all the more twisted out of shape.

Thanks Mikko!
Here's the latest update. Discoloration finished on the exterior of the debris and a wash and flat-coat applied to the FB's. Also a shot of more FB armor bits and the finished bells.

I'm really liking the chipping around the feet.
I don't know if you have weathered the blue air/gas cylinder yet, but unless they are straight form the distributor, I've never seen one of these so pristine. Maybe some chipping around the bottom.
Looks fantastic, I love the vertical orientation.

Thanks guys! BK: Yeah, that shot was taken before the weathering. It's been chipped, discolored, washed, etc... and looks nice and used now. Some graphite around the top and bottom finished it up. Shots of it later as it's currently connected to the debris spire.

Getting close to done. Here's some shots of the bells all lit-up! Now I can add a little smoke around the exhausts.

Holy mackerel. That has to be one of the best MaK space scenes. Very inspirational.
Have you ever seen this one?
http://www.aurora.dti.ne.jp/~kuruppo/dark/kauz.html
Well, yours is better. Way better. Mucho better. With extra cheese better.
If you can figure out how to post here:
http://showcase.blog26.fc2.com/blog-entry-146.html#more
The Japanese MaK fans would love to see it.
How well did the LEDs work out? Did it go as planned? did you run a wire up each side pipe on the plastic bell part or did you run them both up the center? Do you have any pictures?
