The shields look good. Interesting mod.
I kinda feel the hip area looks too small...

Yeah, I was thinking the same. That seems to be the focus point of the lower half's "smallness". Maybe I can deissect the crotch (ouch!  Unsure) and lower and widen the hip balls. That would also have the effect of making the Hummingbird parts appear longer and wider.

Funaka, you had said you still weren't satisfied with the rear skirt? Might I suggest notching the tip and flattening it out to mirror the beam scatter shield. Or a wider notch to draw the shoulder mounted shields into the design more and soften that sharp point on the rear.

That's a really good idea.  Cool I think instead of cutting a notch in the Zeong parts, I might add plastic (I still have the Zeong parts I cut off) in two pieces that don't meet in the middle, thereby adding length and making a notch.

I'm starting to wish I had built this model from the top down... I actually cut the Zeong skirt smaller than its original size, now here I am wanting to make it bigger. I also made the top of the hummingbird units as narrow as possible so that they would meet the torso at a similar width, but now they seem too narrow.

The good news is that with more and more experience, these seem like failry simple fixes. Another thing I have to decide is if I'll have fuel tanks, and where they will fit. I really dont want to put them right in front of a thruster, but the rear view is almost all thrusters (backpack shield thrusters, backpack center thrusters, main backpack thrusters and hummingbird thrusters). Maybe I could make thruster tanks like Fichtenfoo's Reginae or Ezechiel's Zeku 1.5.

Crotch surgery, OW!  LOL

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_23.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

While I was at it, I inserted a polycap drilled out to accept a 1/8" rod for future mounting use.

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_24.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

Once I really got going, I forgot to take pictures. Basically, I got the crotch put back together and filed flush and then I added a 0.02 inch plate to each side both to smooth over the construction and to add width.

I sawed the balls apart (again, ouch! LOL) and filed them flush on the inside so I then had each ball on its own plastic plate. To the inside I added 0.03 inch plaplate. After test-fitting, I glued these pieces back onto the crotch.

The end result is that the ball joints are now about 5-6 mm wider, 3-4 mm lower and 3-4 mm forward of the original design.

It's a subtle change, but now I can separate the legs more and get them as wide as the shoulders. They also tuck under the skirt a bit better (I shortened the skirt mounting rod, so the skirt also sits a few mm further forard).

The downside is that I have a bit of a gap between the torso and the top of the hummingbird legs. I may put some fairing there to fill the empty space. We'll see.

A bit of work done...

I cut up the extra Hazel chest I had to get the sensor off of it:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_27.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

I glued it to the center portion of my HRUDUDU chest add-on, as well as a Kotobukiya hatch (it's on the bottom, you can't really see it here):

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_28.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

I also extended the rear skirt and notched it per Chaos Theory's idea:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_29.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

I'm now happy with the model's proportions. I still need to fill the gap between the bottom of the torso and the top of the Hummingbird leg units, but that shoudn't be too hard.

I've begun work on the HRUDUDU type sniper rifle parts. This doesn't look like much, but it's actually 15 different pieces of plastic and represents several hours of trial and error work  :

The skirt is hot I mean awesome, it looks like it belongs. All it needs are a couple of minus molds and some panel lines and it'll fit that AoZ style.  Your proportions are near perfect now also. Bravo sir! She's coming together nicely.

EDIT:I think an overly long sniper rifle is called for, just wouldn't look right with anything else.

Front half of the gun mods are sorta done. It needs putty and beveling, but the basic shape is there. I built a lot of the details up with lots of layers of plastic so there are actually 33 pieces of white plastic!

The good part about scratchbuilding it is that I could change a few things. The main thing is that it's now around 150% longer than the original design. In general everything is just stretched, but if you count, there are five side vents, and the original only has four.

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_31.jpg

A size comparison to the actual model (Mwahahaha!  Shifty):

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_32.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

So now onto the back half, which is much smaller, but much more complicated too, ugh!

I'm tempted to add some kind of super-sensor or scope. I really like the round radar-looking things on the EX-S and Zeta Plus. We'll see:

GUNS GUNS and GUNS!

Moved onto the back of the HRUDUDU sniper rifle. I looked at a lot of AoZ artwork as well as pics of the Dengeki and HGUC TR-5 HRUDUDU gun and came up with this drawing:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_33.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

I built the back around a rectangular piece of evergreen styrene laminated with plaplate:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_34.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

Here it is completed. I'm really happy with the outcome. It's by far the smallest and most detailed thing I've ever scratchbuilt. It's too bad it'll be hiding in the Hazel's armpit...  Sad After finishing it, I'm sure I'll be giving the front half another look, and try to make it as interesting as the back:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_35.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_36.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_37.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

With all the HRUDUDU parts on hold waiting for Mr. Surfacer 500 to dry, I started on a simple mod of the GM Machine gun. I realy hate the GM machine gun, especially in its HGUC incarnation (the MG version isn't quite as bad, but still...). The back half is too long, the clip is too small and the front half is this dumb tube barrel. Lame.

So, again, a drawing and a quick layout of the underlying structure of the mods:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_38.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

And the finished work. It's a bit crude and boxy, but a big improvement on the original:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_39.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

Here's a pic of the original from Dalong (copy and paste if the link doesn't work):

http://dalong.net/review/hg/h74/p/h74_10.jpg

So, sand the putty and add final details and the guns will be done. I have to do a quick fix on the waist, but then the HH should be ready to prime!  Big Grin

Gun refinement... I'm getting tired of these guns, Sad so short of final sanding/puttying/touch up, they're done. Put a fork in them.

Added some detail and did some more bevel sanding on the machine gun:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_40.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

Here's the front half all marked up, beveled, and with greebles added:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_41.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

After priming I have this (I haven't glued the blade to the bottom of the front, so it is absent in the rest of the pics):

Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_43.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

The cheaper permanent marker I used after my Sharpie died bled through the primer. Hopefully paint covers it  Angry.

I had to mod the wrist so the hand could hold the sniper rifle. I may still lengthen the ball stem.

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_44.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

Finally, here is the HH with its guns:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_45.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

With the stock of the sniper rifle resting in the armpit, it will hold this pose. I may decide to add a stiffener in the arm once I'm ready to start gluing and working out the final pose.

Phew! I'm thinking very seriously of cutting back from four models to just two (finish this one and do the Gigantic Arm Unit variant). The other two kits are kinda unique becasue of the Primrose parts, but they're still pretty much OOB.

A bit of detailing work, mainly on the hip/waist area, and I added a couple small details to the shoulder and HRUDUDU armor. Still needs a fairing on the bottom of the torso and detailing of the rear skirt. Maybe one more weekend before it's ready to prime and I can move onto the Gigantic Arm Unit Hazel...

Last bit of work on extending the torso to blend with the lowered HH booster legs:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_48.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

Then I moved on to detailing the rear skirt. I did some really simple cheesy stuff on the underside since it won't be seen much (but I had to do something):

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_49.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

I put more work into the upper surface:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_50.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_51.jpg

I also did a bit of work on the interior of the thruster legs so they wouldn't just be flat plastic inside. Again, this was kind of quick and dirty just so there's something there:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_52.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

I'm currently at work pinning the front and back sniper extensions to the HRUDUDU sniper rifle so that they'll go together better after painted. After that, I think the model is ready for the first round of glue and priming...

Thanks! I'll probably go pretty standard Titans Blue with Blue-Gray, yellow trim and white add-on parts. Norally I'm big on custom color schemes, but since the theme is TTT, I'll stick with their colors. I just have to decide how much will be white since almost everything I've modded could be considered an add-on and I don't want it to be 75% white. I may eliminate most of the white as well, since this particular suit should be out in space on the fringes of the battlefield picking off mobile suits in the center of the battle. I think a dark color scheme would be most logical.

Erix's Hazel continues to inspire me throughout this build, and he left out the white altogether:

Yeah I have to say I was initially very skeptical of the Zeong skirt, but after your modifications (esp. the more angular shape) completely dispelled my doubt.  Looks really good, keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot, guys!  Big Grin

Okay, with the exception of any fixes that become necessary after priming, I am now considering the mods done on this model. Phew! I'm going to set it aside now and work on the GAU, so I don't get burnt out and so I can do all the priming and final sanding together.

To finish off the HH, here's what I did... After seeing the HRUDUDU gun for so long without the blade below the front half of it, I kind of started to like it that way. So, I cut the blade down to more of a bayonet:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~funaka/images/Hazel-Hummingbird_53.jpg
Titans Test Team Tetra Threat

I added a bit of vent-like detail to the back portion of the front of the gun to fill in some blank space. I also put pins (well, pieces of paperclip, really) in so that the scratchbuilt pieces would hold on better to the original gun. The whole thing is held together now with just two small pieces of masking tape. Before I had that and globs of sticky tack and it still didn't hold...

I also did a bit of greebling to the HH thruster legs to bring them up to par with the rest of the kit. Here are some "final" mod images:
