Repainting MSiA?

A little background:
Hello. Long, long time lurker here. I want to start by saying I do normally sand/putty/hand paint (mostly 1/100MG) and I am also going to start airbrushing by new year, so please dont think I am just being lazy. I am currently writting tactical rules for a plamos/action figures (or anything else around 1/144 scale gunpla) tabletop skirmish game, and I don't think it is a good idea to play with models that have been painstakingly painted. So I figure, MSiA figures are perfect since they are considered "toys" afterall and are much more resilient than normal plamo. They also help with game mechanics because a) They are posable b)their armor pieces come off as a way of keeping track of damage c)come with variety of equipment to change out. I plan on only painting the armor pieces since the internals are fine the way they are.
Questions:
1) Would you strip them? how?
2) If no stripping, then what kind of paint would adhere relatively well on MSiA figures?
3) For someone who have tried repainting - What made it successful or fail?
Thank you all in advance.
-Cyphus
P.S.- I have tried googling, check stickies, and used search function already.

Welcome to the posting side of FFF (as opposed to lurking). Although I can't offer any suggestions to you, I would suggest that--as an additional resource--you do some Googling/searching on action figure repainting. Whatever info you turn up may be very relevant to what you're trying to accomplish here.
