Looks great Mike.  It's really really shaping up.  I like the headlamps, and the cargo hatch details.  What kind of cattles are there in Mars??  LOL

Man you are really doing it big time with this one! Here I am thinking I'm the man for getting an Energy Star for my office building making it one of the best and most energy efficient buildings in the nation. Sad I can't even paint a model let alone make one from scratch. Huh?

Thanks. I was considering casting it, but need to see if I can figure it out... needs a 2 part mold and I've never done one.

Damn, that thing is BAD ASS!  I see a few Luca influences in there, and you've integrated them well!

Outstanding work, dude.

Filmy Thanks!

Leo: Sorry man! I mean the Jerry can... not the dune hopper. LOL

BK: Fulcy's gonna take on getting that jerry can casted up. I actually might make a different one to give him since I think this one is slightly "flawed" and I can do better for a production one. It's fine for my build, but to get something produced, I wanna do it perfect. It'll be the same design, just... cleaner. LOL

It's wonderful what you're making on this model Michael.
A lot of accurate ideas as pistons of airbreaks and all cable tubes, chains and detailes you've put on engine zone and all over.
Next step with wheels? Big Grin
Great work

I've really enjoyed this WiP, lots of detail and documented well. This thread's a great resource for my own scratch building projects. Thanks  Foo.

So besides the wheels... Big Grin my burning question is what setting are u gonna choose as a motif to paint this bad boy. Don't overlook the vehicle's ability for cold climates. Arctic paint job and big studded tires would be interesting or Arakeen/Fremen scheme or digital camo...

Thanks guys. I have pics of the hubcaps and inside of the wheels that I casted yesterday that I need to post still.

Paint-wise since this will be Mars-based I'm planning a dark-brown/tan camo so make it look like a rock out on the plains.

Fremen scheme

A true Fremen only uses his two feet and the almighty Shai-Hulud to get from place to place. Plus anyone else using this in the open Arakeen desert... well they're worm-bait. DOH!

Haven't been able to put a comment down (been away) untill now.

Starting to look pretty awsome now. I was skeptical initially about the blocky design, but now when the detail parts came on the look of it has totally changed. Keep up the great work Michael. Looking forward to see it primed and ready for paint (my favourite stage in the building process).  Big Grin

This is some awesome work!

I'm late to the party because I'm not into armor, so I kept passing up the Dunehopper in-prog to look at robots. Now that I took a look it's some really sweet scratchbuilding! It's kind of late to comment on individual parts, but I was really impressed by the working suspension, as well as the overall level of detail. But where's the steering wheel?

Maybe you should lose the wheels and make it a submarine, so it visit the water at the bottom of the ocean. Anyway, great work! Same as it ever was...  Wink

I cannot believe the details going into the model. I should not be surprised, but I am amazed.  My favorite part is the engine area.  With all of that wiring and piping, I would not want to be in the maintainance crew for that.  Great job.  I cannot wait to see the painting get underway.

Just FYI that I'm back on this project. I took the ADH off the shelf and started going over what I need to do versus what I've already done. Mostly I just have some clean-up work to do and weld seams around the rollcage and grabhandles/d-rings.

But overall after looking at it today the prevailing thought in my head was... "WTF was I thinking?" This thing is huge and I spent most of my time figuring out what I did to get where I'm at. It's hard to restart things sometimes but I'm re-energized now and should be priming by next weekend I hope.

No pics as I haven't done anything more but stay-tuned.
