AEUG Symbols Contest
«

So we know the AEUG has that saturn-looking logo and that there are some AoZ-styled modifications in DH for AEUG, but I was wondering if there was any "anti-bunny" type logo for the AEUG. Maybe we should have a mini-comp to design stuff for an AEUG AoZ sheet then send it off to Samuel Decals for those doing something AoZ styled AUEG like me.
I was thinking the Anti-bunny might be a tortoise, but how threatening is that? Not that a bunny is threatening and the tortoise DID win the race and has plenty of armor.
What about other children book references aside from "Watership Down".
Thoughts?

I'd say a fox or a dog since those are natural enemies of rabbits. Plus the Rick Dias Stutzer is red so it kinda goes with the fox thing.
Though I like the idea of the turtle. There's some potential in the idea; I can see 2 consequences on mechas: heavy armored as you said, and something slow to start but with a ridiculously high max speed...hence huge conventional boosters...

Wikipedia has
the answer
.
Ferrets?
I like the idea of logo design "contest". Or have some sort of common theme for those inclined to designing their own decals. Some talented Graphics designers can show off their skills too.

Ferrets seem like a good idea. Easy to make into a cute little mascot but still a predator.
Those things are long, fast, agile, sneaky looking. there's room to imagine a robot with those characteristics

Even though Ferrets are used to hunt rabbits, I like the Fox idea for the AEUG logo. Remember, AEUG and The Zeon Remnant, were the ones being hunted; in order to survive against the overwhelmingly superior EFSF and Titans, they had to be the sly clever ones, so a fox would fit in nicely with AEUG.

I kinda like the idea of foxes as well. Let's go with that then "officially" or for kicks do a ferret if you want to. I think the foxes with the ears and tail can be far more stylized which will be cool. Let's give this a deadline of 2 weeks (October 31st 2007) and see what we can all come up with.
Apparently we've got a lot of designers and students here, so do your thumbnails (10 thumbs each by tomorrow) before doing any final versions. Can you tell I used to teach graphic design? Students HATE pencil thumbs, but believe me, they're a necessary and great way of fleshing out quick ideas.
I'll put the winners (and maintenance marks) into an Illustrator file and see if we can get Samuel to print us up some on demand for those that want them. This will be a fun side project!
Don't forget to do text logos as well for AEUG. You know... like the TTT ones.
Post designs in this thread.

HINTS FOR CREATING DECAL DESIGNS THAT PRINT WELL:
Avoid gradients
These solid colors work best: black, white, red, yellow, cyan, magenta, metallic silver, metallic gold and occasionally orange. Not sure if Samuel has other specialty solid color cartridges, but those colors work well based on my experience.
Print your designs out small to test them. What is still visible and what got lost?

Here's my first one... a fox in an AoZ bunny style. (and yes I did a few thumbs first
) This is just the base fox for mine. I wanna do some text treatment as well. I might even do a turtle with Rick Dias booster pods too for kicks.

AEUG Symbols Contest
Mike's a furry!
Sorry...
I'd say it's not stylized enough when you compare it to the TTT logo. The eyes are very detailed for example. Just giving my input.
I have an idea and a rough sketch but just can't render it to that kind of level. And I can't really draw anyway...

I don't know... I didn't find a lot of the cannon designs to be all that detailed.
http://www.samueldecal.com/alpsdecal2/ttt/AOZ_all.jpg
Still though, this is just my base design. I'll use this to do my other ideas.
Sketch out your idea and post it. Maybe someone else can refine it!

Ok...not saying this any good:

I think I was inspired by the Kojima Production logo.
As for a name for the unit -if one's needed, I thought of something reusing the 3 same initials like TTT. Like AEUG Advanced Armory, AEUG ADVANCED ARMADA, AEUG ARMORED ARMADA, etc.

Ez: I like that logo. I'll play with it some later and clean it up.
Let's avoid FFF please, (My modesty won't allow that!
) but I like the German connotations.

First thing to come to my mind when I read this topic was this:
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q320/de_tam/firefox.jpg
I think the fox is a great choice. The tail would be fun to design with lots of possibilities. I'll start on some sketches tonight.

I did some looking around, and I remember that Hideo Kojima changed the logo for his production company, he is now using the Metal Gear Foxhound Unit logo for his company's logo. The company logo is another source of inspiration, the fox logo is very well done.
Check it out:
Kojima Productions
Please wait until the flash animation finishes loading, roll the mouse over the center of the browser window, and the logo will show up.

Ez: Sweet sketch! It almost could pass for a modified ying-yang symbol (maybe with a little tweaking) Is the fox's mouth open or is that his front paw?

Yeah it's his paw, it looks so ugly as his mouth. Now that's all I can see
As bonks said the firefox logo is probably the main inspiration actually...
Feel free to use it if you want to.
