That's the goal, but I can't go any further on it until I find suitable braided sleeving. I want something that is somewhat fabric-like... the stuff I found before is shiny plasticy and unpaintable.

By braidend sleaving you mean similar to the ones you can use to dress up your engine? If so maybe some nylon "panty-hose" ? I have seen it used on figure models somewhat often before.

I was thinking of mimicing your idea with my PG eva. Since I never put it together properly to begin with, and then manged to badly damage the rubber in a move, it's in serious need of a rebuild. I was looking at this Fray Resistant Sleeving which is more tightly packed than standard stuff.
http://cabletiesandmore.com/CleanCutSleeving.php
it says it has a softer feel, so it may be more fabric-like. Sorry I havn't purchased any myself yet.

That's where I got mine from... if it's PET then it'll be similar to mine which was also PET... and sucked for this.

Hey, I just joined...but on this, I found some polyester braided sleeving, don't know if it will work out or not.

Thanks, but no... in fact I had ordered that very product from that very store and it's for the most part useless. Too shiny, won't hold paint either and not the most flexible material. I need something that's almost like cloth. The the fiberglass sleeve sold by mechaskunk, only much larger. His only goes up to 4mm and I'd need closer to 30mm in diameter.

Braided fiberglass tubing. Avialable from 1/8 to 24 inches in diameter. The braid looks similar in size to mechaskunk's. Not sure how much it is though...

Maybe I'll give them a call or something.

The spark plug boots are not very big, maybe about 1/2" to 1" in diameter at most.

The width depends on the application. Most come with spark plug wire sets these are all I could find individually. I have a set on my Dodge SRT8 big engine so they are about 1 1/4 ". I also have them on the wife's Altima and the are at about an inch. I may have some extra ones laying around form my Camaro larger size I will snap some pics with a ruler to see if they will work. If they do I can send them out to you.

Not usually no. They are meant for racing applications etc where the plug boots and wires need to be protected from high heat or whatever else.

Back from the dead! Sculpting the naked Eva first then I'll possibly cast it and then cover it with armor and... secret black stuff.
