1/100 Z-GOBLIN (Epic Project Stickied, A MUST READ!)
«

Hi all guys!
Now air is cooler and holidays are finished
it's time to come back to work!
Let's my new project, a 1/100 new version of the Goblin.
I'd love to explain a short story of that model, I hope my bad english allows me..
I always liked that model for its exaggerated heavy appearence, so gawky and rough, in fact I've dedicated a winter dio sometimes ago.
When a friend of mine (thanks to put me on it!
) asked me to create a modification of this MS model, I accepted with pleasure to dedicate time to that work.
Unfortunately I noticed very soon that the model I was making wasn't a simply conversion or a customization, but was becoming a true fullscratchbuildt model. I think sometimes it's difficult to know bounds between modification, customization, conversion and fullscratchbuildt model, so I finally decide to make a decision, starting to see it as a completely new version of the Goblin. I don't know if it will be an "evolve" MS, recently so in vogue.. but my effort is to modernize it in the design.
I'd like to avoid to exclude its general shapes and silouhette, I'd only want to change its appearence, putting it in a more updated design.
I confess I'm in a quite advanced stadyum of model process, so please forgive me if I started from the beginning, but I think it's better to show all the process for better understanding the work under it.
I've started this model more or less one year ago, for it I'm using my usual materials as: various parts, pipes, option parts, plasticard, superglue and milliput.
Some original mechanical parts are still a masterpiece, a pity to cover, so I've decided to keep them visible.
I think we can start with early pics.
I hope you will enjoy!

i think your work is amazing, and i've spent HOURS looking at your site. it's a large part of what inspired me to come back to modelling. i know it's to my benefit and i'm sure to many others to see such a build progress through its early stages, so thank you for sharing.

Thanks Fich!
I'd like to proceed by degrees because I' d like to emphasize the great and long work there's between a step to another.
If I post immediately good thing, I think people can't understand the process, BTW don't worry I won't expatiate too much!
Let's the beginning of the skirt. This represented the most difficult thing in this model. I passed 2 months working on it only!
It's completely fullscratchbuildt and I choosed to split it in 6 parts (it's more Five Star Stories!
), while original Goblin one was in 4 only. Original one was too short and wide and new one in 6 parts I think could create a more realistic mobility idea for this mecha.
I've started it from a seed slice (sorry I have't find the right traduction on my dictionary now..), cutted by dremel. This will be the Milliput support for creating the skirt.
Let's some pics of it:
http://img478.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1010009rl4.jpg
early 2 parts cutted:
http://img372.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1010010ja3.jpg
four:
http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1010011vo9.jpg
...and SIXXX!!!!!!
http://img475.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1010012rr9.jpg
Once those parts obtained, I can shape them, to make all regular..
Parts on the pelvis:
http://img84.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1010015dr5.jpg
http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1010013vb7.jpg
The whole model:
http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=goblin6ex1.jpg
I hope this will start an idea of what will be, if not, stay tuned for next pictures session!
Thanks
Luca

It's magic!!
Great idea on using the shovel-thing (I know exactly what you used, but I can't think of the proper name at the moment) to construct the skirt. Pure genius.

I know meaby it's too early to imagine how it will be, BTW, pleasee wait a moment to see it quite completed, I'd have to show some other in prog SKIRT pics.
As I told you that was the very hard phase in this model, so it worth to show some other critical moments!

Sweet! I wish I had your sculpting skills.
I saw this piece and thought of you (because there's a goblin and because the main thing looks a bit like your stuff):

WoW!!!!!!!!!! I am simply amazed at this. Owning a Briegel and knowing how well constructed and detailed that is, I can't imagine how awesome this one is.
Any chance of this being cast? If so I am all over it!

After having a closer look at the photos, I love your solution for creating the armored skirts for the Z-Goblin, I would not have thought of your solution to making the lower body skirts.
Wow, Milliput is making a lot of money off of you.
How many Boxes of Milliput putty do you use on average to create one MS Model?
Also, what is the plastic shell that you use to create the Armored Skirt? Is it a plastic lamp shade or light cover?

As usual I 'am coming after the battle. Really nice progress page not boring at all.
The thing that amaze me is that the inner skirt is almost more detailed then the outer.
You make us dream thanks !

Yes, I think it's important a part is good when the whole part is good.. when I open a box and some parts aren't detailed where it's difficult to see, I'm not very happy and usually think what kind of details to add!
