nice work, you did a good job with the weathering and I really like the poses you depicted the model in. Do you have any in progs or anything detailing any methods you used?

@angel_ad
Thanks :) Here are only wip pictures I have http://picasaweb.google.com/nen.girith/WIPCharSZakuII
But I can tell what I did:
- snaped and sanded
- applied texture with sponge and mr surfacer
- preshaded
- damaged with dremel, knife and incense(?)
- painted
- painted panel lines
- sprayed gloss coat
- applied decals
- applied wash/filter/discoloration with black and rust enamel paints
- drybrushed with silver enamel paint(armor lightly, inner frame heavy)
- weathered with black powder
- sprayed gloss coat for inner frame, flat for outer armor
- painted stand, added decals(stickers :/), gloss coated

Looks pretty good. I could swear I've seen this in person. Did you enter this in Kansas City in April?

Ah. Someone had a 1.0 displayed on an Action Base in that same pose in KC in April. My mistake.

I would have done that if there was a picture to click. There were none, there still isn't, but he provided the link so it doesn't matter.

Anyways, I guess it was the flash or something because the paint looked really thick and orange peely in the in-progs, but the finished kit looked awesome, really nice damage, good poses too. Nice work. I never really liked the 2.0 Zakus because they looked like F2s more retroed out, but you make it look a bit more believable.

I don't see a pic or link in the first post either. Sarcasm

Looks okay. Seems like you've had an issue with orange-peeled paint here. Thinner paint in lighter coats will help that.

KAZAAM! Shaq style baby. Good to know i'm not crazy. I didn't see the orange peel so much in the finished pics, but the in-progs had some.

I uploaded picture to imageshack now so it should be all right now :)

About orange-peeled paint, what is it? Paint texture(google said that)? If so, it's allrigt, it should be that, I used sponge with mr surfacer to add texture to imitate cast off efect. It don't look that same on all parts, but it doesent mater, thanks to it zaku have more rought look, it looks like it actualy was in war, and couple armor parts was replaced/repainted :)
If orange-peeled paint isn't what I take it for please enlighten me :)

Thanks everyone for coments!

Oh, I see.... I missed the sponging part in the description. I took that for orange peeled texture. Sorry 'bout that. I think the texture might be too uniform and rounded which is what's throwing everyone.

Looks good!  I like the weathering and damage work.  This type of damage modeling requires some sculpting skills and I think you've recreated a damaged look very well.  This is a great kit and looking at yours make me impatient to work on mine.    Smiley

Only constructive critique I would have concerns the gloss coat.  It looks like full gloss in the pictures - if so, this may be something that's causing eyes to misperceive the texture work.

Great build!

I too think it's the problem, but that glossy efect is only in the pictures, normaly it looks alrigt. I think it's from lighting I used, next time I will try taking pictures with longer shutter speed, maybe it will help. Or I will play more with photoshop  Tongue

However I still need to learn how to take good pictures...

You're right!  Good pictures are the result of good lighting.  Here's a link to a tutorial on how to construct a lightbox for essentially nothing:

http://www.wikihow.com/Create-an-Inexpensive-Photography-Lightbox

I built this version and used it to light the pictures for the 1/144 Z'Gok in the Model Gallery.  Works great and really allows the model to shine (no pun intended).  Wink
