It's looking pretty good. Might I suggest deepening the highlights and shadows with some oil paint? Some whitish version of the light tone on the raised edges blended in and a darker burnt umber in the recesses. That'll really make it pop!

I'm not quite sure about the skin tone yet. I don't know if I wanna go with a leathery hide or raw meat look or even rotten flesh. I'll have to play with it in photoshop when I get it primed. Try out some choices and see what you guys think. I've been itching to try some filters out. Dunno if all the recessed areas will interfere with that process or not.

Yea, point taken...

More updates: I've progressed well this past week. I've added to the helmet in an effort to make it look less like kampfer shoulder armor. The spike is a carburator from some motorcycle toy I stripped down and I also wanted to elongate and round out the back of the helmet. There is still a seem I gotta get but its almost there.

I used epoxy putty and Mr. Surfacer 500 for lack of any polyester putty. My LHS is a lil' old skool and I have to order it off the net.
Just a few finishing touches and a rear wheel
and this will be ready for primer... here's to a happy holiday for everyone

The hollidays are finally over
and I've finally finished construction on the chopper.
I went looking for an RC airplane wheel to use as my rear wheel. Out of three LHS I found no usefull RC wheels, so I settled on an unlikely choice. For $3.78 + tax I got two wheels...
Chaos Chopper
Yes, I got wood.
But with some sanding and some quick thinking I covered the unfinished side and built the hub out and made it work. Then I needed to dress up the forks a bit as well as adding a head light and adding battery and cable to the rear swing arm:

The complete mock up:

Nothing brings a scratch build together like a coat of primer. Now to figure out the paint
I added some armor plates over the rear arms. I'm still not sold on it though.
Chaos Chopper
The join between the arms and sculpted flesh is too visable or am I just too anal?

Looks much better with the primer. One of the most original bike designs I've seen. You should submit it to the TV show!

Thanks Ezechiel, I'm still gonna finish out the armor plates just in case the joint is more noticable when painted.

I always strive for originality, so thank you
Also hey don't be afraid to offer up any criticisms. I spent three years in art school so I appreciate the extra eyes seeing things I don't.

I was playing with paint schemes in photoshop and think I've settled on something that fits the wierdness of this build. Bloody red flesh with a weather'd lime green on the "armor" parts and alclad pale burnt metal for the mechanical parts (lightly rusted). Please excuse the crappiness of the pic I didn't wanna waste a lot of time.
Chaos Chopper
Thoughts anyone?

I started work on the paint this week. Blood and guts first. Base of 6 parts tamiya red and 1 part tamiya sky blue then a light coat of tamiya red (pictured top left). Next I did some dry brushing with vallejo game colors and sealed it with a flat coat of FFA (top right). This was alowed to cure over night before I applied another two coats of thinned tamiya red (bottom left). About 12 hours later I applied a filter of sky blue to get some more depth to the recesses (seen bottom center). The filter caused a little frosting 'cause I didn't seal it first
but with another light drybrushing of Vallejo white (not pictured) I was able to even the snafu out. Last Two coats of Citadel Colors: Red Ink to give that bloody muscles look (bottom right).

the total package after a semi gloss coat of FFA

It still needs a little depth to the flesh so as soon as I can locate my alizarin crimson and raw siena I'll give it a wash or two. Till then thanks for watching.

Oh wow... love it so far. Will it retain that oozy glossy finish to the skin?

Thanks, Yes. I hope to be able to finish the flesh with a gloss or semi gloss coat of FFA. I'm gonna hafta experiment with it to see how it comes out.

This is friggin awesome. I was a little skeptical at first, but now it looks like some kind of cross between Spawn Nitro Riders and a cyber demon from Doom. Can't wait to see it finished.

I never noticed before, but is the head off a Spawn figure?
Looking good... I'm gonna have to put some extra work into the Cage.

Eze: thank you
NickM: Yes it is from Spawn the Black Knight. Nothing is sacred or safe in my house.

Oh sorry to hear about your injury and car problem, hope your foot will feel better soon. It sucks that life sort of got in the way of your modeling (at least for the next little while). I think you have a really unique piece here and I'm sure a lot of us would like to see your final product!

We're back up and running... Just a teaser for you, all masked off with shiny metal curteousy of alclad 2 burnt metal. Its almost a shame to weather that finish.

Its hand-i-tac or Sticky Tack like your kindergarten teacher used to hang posters on the cinder block walls. you get it at the Evil Wal-Mart with the school/office supplies. it helps with the organic shapes that tape wouldn't work for.
