So I have finally decided on my approach for the Briegel. I am going for an Arctic environment version, with a whitewash on the body and snow and stuff for the base. Full details aren't completely decided, but I will also be scratchbuilding some sort of weapon for the unit, and environment stuff.
I will post some colored line art this weekend to illustrate what I am going for in the design.

Here's the process from the MIG book on a
Single Toned Tank With a Winter Camo
. I figured I'd post it here instead of via IM for everyone's benefit.
1: Base Color
>>(I'd do the chip masking here... not in the list)
2: White Airbrush Color
3: White Color in Mapping
4: White Chips in Negative
5: Filters
6: Washes
7: Running Rusty Chips
8: Rusty Corners
9: Pre-Dusting
10: Wet Mud
11: Fresh Mud
Let me know if you need clarification on any of those that are not covered in that scan.

Hey mtomczek. Looks good. May I suggest a color stripe somewhere (maybe one of the shoulders)? Of course, just a suggestion.
Oh! Speaking of which, someone should really do a red shoulder custom Briegel.

I was thinking about doing a color stripe of some sort, I'll post up an updated color scheme when I figure out what and where I want it.

Hey Matt, go to your LHS and pick up issues 9 and 10 of Tamiya Model Military International. (Jan and Feb issues) Issue 9 has a great build-up by Mig Jiminez with many of the techniques I've been trying to explain like discoloration. Issue 10 has a great comp winning build up by Phil Stutcinskas that uses hairspray as a base for applying a winter whitewash. A MUST-READ for you!

Small update today. I started working on the torso last night, sanded parts down, pinned the large main torso halves together etc. So far so good, really nice resin to work with. I need to take some pictures tonight, and also need to pick up a 3mm drill bit and some more rod for pins. woo!

So I finally got into the meat of this badboy today. I have completed basic assembly of the torso, pinning it, and getting everything fitting how it should. I then started to add some small greebles to the torso to add more detail. I also set magnets in the back of the torso to hold the thrusters on. (I copied Foo on that one!) Here's some pictures:

There's still some sanding that needs to be done and I plan on adding some more detail pieces to it as well. More updates soon!

The recommended sizes are 1mm, 2mm, 3mm for the various pinnings. I was having trouble finding some stuff in those sizes, so FF suggested I use 1/16, 3/32, and 1/8. So I went and bought a bunch of aluminum rods in those sizes, and thats what I've been using. For some of the really big sections like in the torso halves I used 3/16 rod.

Like I said before, the inner bells look bad. Ako's small bells would look good though as I've tested them on mine. And no problem with stealing my trick... it's what the BO is about afterall... learnin's and one-up-ins.

Made some more progress this weekend! I was to get both legs pinned and assembled, and the right leg cleaned up and sanded. (Still have to clean up the left leg as seen in the picture.) Next step is to figure out the basic pose I want for the legs, then to glue it up so that it will be able to hold itself upright. (The torso is being held up by a container of magic sculpt)

Oh my god most of work is done already!!
Congratulations Matt, even if isn't an easy build, it seems you're doing it extremely well.
I can't wait the moment you will paint it. I wish you will apply your wonderful painting skill as for your GP01-FB.
I confess I'd like to see it pixel-orange too....
