1/78?  That's kind of a random scale, isn't it?

lol, no, the S/EX-S is a huge MS. My calculator says 1/78 would be about right on the PG WZC

He beat me to it...  The GX, the GX Divider or even the Double X should be possible.
Too bad I've already built my PGWZC.

Although, I do have a PG Zaku still in the box and FF's Gouf idea would be a good step from the MG Gouf Custom I'm finishing up.  (Look for a post in the progress section tonight.)

omg...if someone built a GX...I would go crazy, im not exagerating one bit. I love the GX line, and no one ever seems to do anything with it! T.T

Although, I would also really like to see an Astray Red Frame. (as long as someone would FINNALY make the antenna the right way >.< )

Anyway, I have a PG Strike, and would LOVE to enter this challenge...but I dont even know how to paint properly just yet, and not being able to afford paint in order to improve is a slight factor as well.

If I could only get my hands on a PG Strike I'd love to do an Astray conversion.  The only two things standing in the way is that I've maxed out my model fund for a few months, and that it would be f@#*ing hard.  It seems really doable though, the hardest part just seems to be the curves of the head, and the intricate feet.

I like the idea of a PG Strike-Red Frame Astray conversion too, been contemplating about it for quite some time now --- this challenge may just be the reason to start building the frame of my PG Strike. Although it would put a big delay on my current in-prog, I may just start on it before the year ends.

So whats the right way to make the antenna? :D

Ok, on the 1/100 and the SD models (not sure if there is a 1/144) the antenna is always flat against the head...this is a BIG no no. If you have read the manga you would see that the antenna isnt flat like that.

heres a couple images of how it SHOULD be done:

This one is the most accurate:

This one is just there to show a better front view, although its not entirely correct:
SD Astray Red Frame

Even though this is the blue frame, its still the same on the red frame, this one is just to show how swept back it can be, although it isnt supposed to be that thin...

Yea I have that PG lineart somewhere, I just couldnt find it >.>

and that MG Astray looks really good! Although the Antenna is too vertical, it should be swept back towards the head more ^_^

Thanks for the pictures! :P

Edit: sorry for being so nitpicky...i'll shut up now...

Here's some inspiration for you guys from a Hobby Japan special issue I have on the PG Gundam and Zaku II. I scanned some conversions they have in the issue. Keep in mind the Gouf conversions were done before the Glorious Gouf came out! Sorry some of the scans came out pretty cruddy, especially the Shiki.

This is why you're on probation. That's a conversion from a magazine. PLEASE read before posting like an idiot.

mrmaigo & chopper dave:  thanks guys for the pics and pointers, already started building the PG strike frame so that I can start taking measurements and proportions for scaled-up custom parts based on the 1/100 red frame. I just hope I do it justice, just like what ashinomori did to his strike conversion buster and freedom.

This is really a cool challenge, anyone else here started on a PG conversion already?

I cut out about 10 parts of the WZC frame yesterday while waiting for future to cure on my RF Astray. Aside from that... all the work has been done in my head. Still though... that's a lot of work!
