Looking at some of the Homeworld 1&2 fighters got me interested in doing something along those lines. Maybe with some old '70's style sci-fi as well. I was messing around with a 1/48 f-16 canopy and a shield from a MG rgm-79N and decided to make something...

after a ton of cutting,  fitting and re-fitting it went from 1/48 to 1/72 and to what I think is a better over all package. Still has a way to go though. I want to add some auxillary thusters behind the cockpit area on the sides, and some manuvering verniers here and there.  I may also  end up dropping the f-16 intake pod from the bottom.

Good job, the whole thing seems coherent so it's pretty convincing.

Is this stratos?  If it is not I apologise, but the fighter looks awfully like the one he's working on.

Great concept, HW universe is full of amazing designs.  Is this going to be a Taidanii scount / interceptor?

Yes, its me. Although this name is another car reference. I wonder if any one will get it.

I kind of pulled a little from the Taiidan scout (HM1)and then a bit from the Hiigaran fighter (HM2) with some Cosmo Zero (Yamato) thrown in.

Could you perhaps be referring to the Lancia Stratos--which was the real-world version of my first full-size Transformers toy as a kid: Wheeljack?

I've always loved that car...

Welcome to FFF!

Looking at you newest set of images, I think it's vast improvement from before.  I especailly like the cone in the exhaust (very old-skool), the new sub-wing and the new canopy.

Yes, one of my favorites!  But that is the easy one. I was refering to the Pleiades being a car reference.

Small update. Got most of the panel lines on the upper fuselage done.

Fuselage 1

Fuselage 1

Still some random small filling to do,  plus clean up the cockpit.

I dropped the large f-16 intake and am attaching 2 small pod like intakes towards the rear on the sides. I think this will be a little cleaner. the rear wing/fins will attach to the pods.

Booster pods

Pod in place

Nice updates, the one thing I like about it is the outcome of your panel lines.   They are vey well done and add a great deal to the overall look of the build.

Looking good!  It's becoming harder and harder to tell it's a F-16 base, which is a good thing.

After seeing your pics last time I went and played HW2 for hours just to "check out the models"...

I stopped messing around with the Dom/Dias and got back to work on this.
So it is time for another update. I have mostly finished with the top, and
figured out what to do with the nose section. I was kind of going for the
funky '60-'70's thing. I tried making it a little sleeker as well. It is coming along,
but damn! finishing work is a pain. Lots of putty-ing left to do still....

Here is the rest, I tried to get a bunch of angles:

That is something I am having some difficulty with. I am not sure what I am going to do color wise. I might do something like the garish Homeworld markings or maybe go for a more subdued light grey/white scheme.

I did a little virtual work (thanks to FF for the photoshop tutorial). I came up with a patern I liked and then tried some different color schemes. here is a link to the Album:

Note: there are no markings yet.

Nice... This one reminds me of the Feisar team from the "wipeout" games. If you're looking for votes, my two favorites are the blue and white one and the black/gray and white one. I think I've just seen too much orange lately.

Sorry zero, I have to vote for the orange and white with the blue canopy. Of course, I have a bias towards orange, white and blue. :D

This is looking really sharp and you've definately caught the feel of the Homeworld fighters, but at the same time it looks original, too.

I like Blue1, but I think the canopy should go a bit farther forward and back, with a thin black stripe continues across the top all the way back so it follows the light blue stripe (I hope thats light blue, white would be wrong)

Definitely this scheme in either the gray blue or orange. I don't like the colored canopys... screams "target".

I agree with FF, that blue and grey one grabed my attention before any of the others did. It looks good! ^^
