Scratchbuilding Fuel cylinders or info on detail sets?
« on: August 14, 2006, 04:00:17 AM »
Currently working on a Neo-Geo O, and the fuel cylinders have some serious offset seams.  I would like to replace them w/ longer ones.   I did a search and saw FFoo's Wave option tanks, but have had no luck finding them.

Does anyone have any info on how to scratchbuild them or know where I might be able to find ready-made cylinders in a detail set somewhere?

Thanx in advance for any help!

Rick

Do you know the approximate size of them?  You could scratch build them by taking a length of styrene tube, and two styrene balls, glue the balls in either end, and then fill the gap to make it one piece...

Hey Fulcy -  They are 1/220 scale.  I did purchase some styrene rod that is the correct size, so I'm good there.  However, one end is tapered in a cone shape.

Your ball tech. sounds perfect for the other end though!!  Thanx!

Hey Rick

Will you be doing any kind of in progress pictures on this kit?
Can't wait to see what you have done with it . I love the Neo.

oteezbo -  I hadn't given that much thought actually, but since I haven't started painting on it yet or detailing most of the parts I guess I can!   I've replaced some of the hydraulic rods on the legs w/ aluminum rod as they didn't look all that great in resin.  I'll be adding zimmerit and such, along w/ adding some antennas and greeblies to the thing.

Hopefully some pics will follow in the appropriate forum soon!
